On December 31, 2024, Type-Moon held their yearly New Years television broadcast where they unveil details about upcoming projects in their various franchises like Fate/ and Tsukihime. This year’s broadcast was primarily focused around the upcoming Fate/Strange Fake anime as well as Lasengle’s mobile gacha game Fate/Grand Order.
Fate/Grand Order’s yearly New Years event has all the expected flair, with a free holy grail as well as 15 Saint Quartz being given to all players who log in for the event. As per usual, there will be a paid GSSR banner which will guarantee any player who pulls on it a free 5-Star servant. This year, players will have the below choices of GSSR banners to pull on.
The yearly New Years servant this year was revealed to be Richard I from the light novel series Fate/Strange Fake, which will be receiving an anime in 2025. Richard I will be added to Fate/Grand Order as a 5-Star Saber servant. Further details about how he will play are currently unknown.
Richard I’s gacha banner will begin on January 1, 2025 to kick off the new year. In addition to his reveal, a new gameplay mechanic was unveiled by Lasengle where players will be able to create their own Grand Servant.
Converting a servant into a Grand Servant requires the player to level a servant of their choice up to level 100 and raise them to Bond 10. Once a servant is converted into a Grand Servant, they will be able to equip their bond CE and a normal CE simultaneously in battle.
This new Grand Servant system is the latest in constantly added mechanics that allow players to make their favorite servants shine in battle. Bond CEs have always been a neglected element of Fate/Grand Order’s battle system, so having a mechanic like this will give them some actual use.
As has become tradition, Lasengle also showcased an image containing the silhouettes of several servants which will be added to the game in 2025. While it is incredibly hard to make out what any servant in the image is, that hasn’t stopped the Fate community from speculating in the past.
