At 9:00 on February 27, 2024, ramen distributor Donbei posted one of the craziest advertisements in recent history as Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth began telling customers about the glory of ramen.

The advertisement immediately begins with the shocking reveal of Sephiroth, one of the most iconic villains in gaming history, wearing white cat ears and a tail. Throughout the ad, Sephiroth is seen tempting Cloud to consume Donbei bran ramen.

Sephiroth’s cat outfit isn’t the only thing out of place in this ad, as many other elements of Final Fantasy VII’s world have been replaced with various ramen-related items. Even meteor itself has transformed into a giant piece of food!

Eventually, Sephiroth’s ramen seduction works and Cloud begins eating a bowl, instantly being won over by the food and recovering 7777 health! Encouraging the audience to follow in his footsteps and order some ramen of their own!

This advertisement isn’t the first time Donbei has collaborated with Square Enix or the Final Fantasy brand, as back in 2016 the company also released a Final Fantasy XV ad where many of the game’s elements were replaced with ramen cups and materials. The game even included a cup noodle sidequest for this collaboration!

Sadly, it is unlikely that players will actually get to dress Sephiroth in cat ears when Final Fantasy VII Rebirth releases, as Noctis’ ramen helmet from the Final Fantasy XV ramen ads was not obtainable in the game.

One may even consider advertisements like these an homage to the days of Final Fantasy VII on the PlayStation 1, as that game famously had a collaboration with Coca-Cola to produce mini figurines of the cast. A tradition that Final Fantasy 8 and 9 followed.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is expected to launch on February 29, 2024, exclusively for PlayStation 5. The game is currently available for pre-order and pre-load.
