Fate/Samurai Remnant Trailer Shows Circe Feeding Players

Fate Samurai Remnant Trailer

Game publisher Koei Tecmo has just released the third trailer for their much-anticipated action RPG based on the beloved Fate franchise: Fate/Samurai Remnant.

The trailer begins with a showcase of the game’s premise, with the young Samurai Iori being sucked into a Holy Grail War where ancient heroes are summoned in a fight to the death.

Fate/Samurai Remnant takes the beloved franchise to a wholly unfamiliar setting: Edo-period Japan. The game’s free city roaming will allow players to walk around and fully immerse themselves in this new setting.

Throughout the trailer, we see a montage of various gameplay mechanics in the city such as weapon crafting at the blacksmith, upgrading attacks via your skill tree, and various methods of travel from jumping across planks to sailing a boat.

We even see a glimpse of the player controlling the Assassin-class servant Li Shuwen, who was previously confirmed to appear in the game during a live stream in early August.

One particularly exciting moment in the trailer showcases Iori and his Saber servant meeting the great witch Circe outside of the game’s main city and offering the player some kykeon to eat.

As expected of this mischievous witch, however, the food will turn Iori into a defenseless pig who cannot attack or even jump on his own. This will lead to a sequence where Saber must help the player navigate the area by throwing them over ledges.

The trailer closes off by showing off more of the game’s story and cutscenes as the main theme song Zanya Gensou plays. The final shot of the trailer gives us a glimpse at Saber’s Noble Phantasm for the first time since the reveal.

Fate/Samurai Remant is expected to be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam on September 29th, 2023. Pre-orders are currently available on all platforms. Players who pre-order the game will receive the special Phantasmal Dress outfit for Miyamoto Musashi.
