Death Stranding 2’s entire gameplay loop is focused on walking across the world and bringing various facilities into the Chiral Network. Once an area of the map is brought into the network, the player will be able to use online features to access other players’ constructions in said area. This makes travel and backtracking a breeze and is a true way to connect the world. However, not every facility that can be brought into the Chiral Network will be accessed during the main story, as several are optional. If you are a player who is having trouble finding these locations, here is a guide on all optional facilities in Death Stranding 2 and how to access them.
All Optional Facilities in Death Stranding 2
There are a total of twelve optional facilities in Death Stranding 2. The player will encounter them in the following order if they are very thorough in their playthrough.
The Bokka
This is the first optional facility you will learn of. You can access his facility simply by picking up a piece of his lost cargo and carrying it up to him.
The Artist
This optional facility can be found in the game’s Mexico tutorial map. To access it, you must simply deliver a piece of lost cargo to the facility. Lost Cargo belonging to the artist can typically be found around the C1 South Distribution Center.
The Lone Commander
This is the first optional facility in the game’s main Australia Map. It can first be accessed by accepting a side quest available in The Government’s Base. However, completing this Side Quest is not enough, as once you reach The Lone Commander, he will give you another mission which will require you to extract cargo from a BT-infested area. Once you have accomplished this task, you can add him to the Chiral Network.
The Inventor
The Inventor can be found to the north of West Fort Knot and south of the F2 South Distribution Center. You’ll only need to bring him a piece of lost cargo to bring him into the network, but reaching him can be difficult. If you are struggling with this, please consult our guide on how to reach The Inventor.
The Architect
After unlocking the Pizza Chef in the game’s sixth episode, the player will be able to accept a side quest from him which involves quickly delivering a pizza to The Architect. Completing this quest will allow you to add The Architect to the Chiral Network.
The Pioneer
Once the player unlocks The Motherhood in the game’s main story, they will be messaged about a Pioneer living in the desert. To access his facility, simply find a piece of his lost cargo and deliver it to him. His cargo typically spawns around The Motherhood and The Mechanic.
The Ghost Hunter
After traveling up the game’s snowy mountains and meeting the Chronobiologist, the player will be told about The Ghost Hunter and will be able to deliver some lost cargo to him (which typically spawns on or around the mountain). However, bringing him cargo is only the first step to adding this facility to the Chiral Network. After meeting the player, The Ghost Hunter will give them a quest to track down and fight the optional Headless Hunters boss fight. Complete this task, and he’ll gladly join the network.

The Fisherman
This facility can be found in the center of the map, but cannot be accessed until you accept a side quest, which can be found in the F5 East Distribution Center after the game’s eighth episode.
The Aeronautical Engineer
After reaching the Eastern Environmental Observatory and going through all of the plot events which happen there, the player will be able to accept a side quest to deliver some cargo to The Aeronautical Engineer and add him to the network
The Tar Therapist
Just north of East Fort Knot, the player will be able to find lost cargo belonging to the Tar Therapist

BPAS
This facility can be found west of the F7 North Distribution Center. To access the facility, simply search for lost cargo in the area and bring it to them.
Mr. Impossible
The final optional facility in the game is located west of Terminal Fort Knot. The first step to accessing them is to find a piece of their lost cargo either near Terminal Fort Knot or in the tar lake. However, this is not enough, as upon delivering it, Mr. Impossible will give the player a side quest to collect three pieces of cargo for them. This is by far the hardest quest in the game as it requires the player to carry three extremely heavy and fragile pieces of cargo across rough terrain. If you succeed, though, you’ll be able to bring this final facility into the Chiral Network.
