Death Stranding 2 features numerous side quests, almost all of which involve delivering items to a specific location and can be completed in a short amount of time. However, there is one which requires the player to travel across the entire map and dig up hot springs. This quest will likely take the entire game to complete as nearly all corners of the map need to be visited, but it is quite worth the effort as hot springs can be used both to fast travel and refill your stamina meter to its maximum. If you want to access these hot springs for yourself, here is a guide on all hot spring locations in Death Stranding 2.

All Hot Spring Locations in Death Stranding 2

Before you can begin searching the map for various hot springs, you’ll first need to unlock the ability to build the Hot Spring Digger and begin this quest. To do this, you’ll need to find a hot spring that has already been dug directly outside of The Motherhood after you connect the building to the Chiral Network.

Take a dip in this hot spring and hold square to put a bucket on Sam’s head, this will teleport him to Heartman’s Lab, where you’ll be given an explanation on what these hot springs are and the ability to dig some yourself. Below are the precise locations of every hot spring.

Hot Spring 1

The first hot spring that you will have to build yourself can be found on a mountain near The Dowser. Walk around the edge of the mountain and look for a flat area with some water before pulling out a PCC Lvl 2 and constructing your hot spring.

Hot Spring 2

You’ll find the next hot spring location on a cliff behind the area near the Animal Shelter. There will be no visible water on the ground to indicate the digging location this time, so listen closely to the beeps coming from your hot spring digger while searching for it.

Hot Spring 3

For your next hot spring, you’ll need to head to a cliffside directly on the border between The Lone Commander’s section of the map and Mr. Impossible’s section of the map. There will be a road nearby, so thankfully, you won’t need to do a lot of cliff climbing.

Hot Spring 4

The next hot spring will require you to make a large trek up the game’s snowy mountains, as it’s located in the area behind the Chronobiologist. Or to be more accurate, it’s located in the area above her.

Hot Spring 5

You won’t be leaving the mountains just yet, as the next hot spring can be located in an area which becomes connected to the Chiral Network after you get the Eastern Environmental Observatory online, right near where the DHV Magellan docks in the main story.

Hot Spring 6

There is yet another hot spring located on these mountains, and this one will require you to scale some steep slopes near both The Adventurer and The Phantom Smith. This will be one of the hardest ones to reach in the whole game.

Hot Spring 7

After the difficulty of the previous hot spring, you can breathe a sigh of relief as the final one can be found directly outside of The Tar Therapist’s home. This is an optional facility, so you’ll need to bring it onto the Chiral Network before you can dig.

With the final hot spring dug, simply teleport back to Heartman’s lab for your reward. For digging all of the hot springs, you will get over a thousand likes from the Hydrologist, multiple items you can decorate your hot springs with like fruit, and a kangaroo hologram for your structures.
