Traversing in Death Stranding 2 can be considered one large game-long puzzle as players try to figure out how to reach various main story delivery zones most efficiently and help other players by building various objects like bridges. Some optional deliveries however have to be done without the assistance of anyone, requiring the player to figure out things on their own. A great example of this is the optional delivery target: The Inventor. While the player is never required to deliver anything to him and can just walk around, remaining in their Chiral Network, dedicated completionists will want to figure out how to get this man his lost packages. How to Reach The Inventor in Death Stranding 2
When obtaining a package that is meant to be delivered to the Inventor, the player may be initially confused as the game directs them to an island in the middle of a sea of tar. Trying to blindly walk or drive to this island will cause the player to sink and damage all of their cargo. In addition to this, the monorail cannot deliver packages to this island.
Fear not though as there is a way to walk to the inventor, it’s just going to take a bit of thinking. If the player were to tap the L1 button and scan the area, they’ll notice that not every part of the tar lake is equally deep. Some portions are highlighted in yellow to show that while they will slow Sam down, he won’t fully sink.
Now getting to the island is simply a matter of finding a complete path of not-too-deep tar from the mainland onto the island. You’ll be able to see one on the east side of the island, right by a Monorail Tracklayer that you can repair. Simply keep scanning the area as you walk through to make sure you’re staying on the right path.
Once you’ve reached the island, you’ll be able to deliver packages to the inventor to both add this section of the map to the Chiral Network and receive various rewards such as Stun Grenades for getting his star ranking to Rank 3.
