If you’ve played Infernus without doing some research beforehand, you’ve probably realized that he can be incredibly squishy compared to other heroes. Not because he lacks health or shields, but because his main mechanic is to jump right behind enemy lines and do a little kamikaze attack. Which can often end in a quick death for you. In this guide we will tell you which build is the best for Infernus and how to play him to actually win every time.
Best Skill Unlock and Upgrade Order for Infernus
You always have to start by getting Afterburn. There’s nothing more satisfying than hurting the enemy even when you’re not shooting. After that, you can start focusing on some of the other skills. Generally, 1, 2, and 4 all work hand in hand to help you deal the maximum damage.

Here’s the best skill order for Infernus:
3 → 1 → 1 → 2 → 2 → 4 → 4 → 2 → 2 → 1 → 1 → 3 → 3 → 4 → 4 → 3
If you’re not familiar with the numbers’ meaning, 1 means the skill on the 1 numpad (which is Catalyst for Infernus), and so on.
Best Item Build for Infernus

The first thing you need to do in the item menu is to press the Browse Builds button in the top right corner and select the Wulfee7 build.
This is by far the best build available for Infernus as it keeps getting updated regularly by Wulfee. It also provides just the right items for you to avoid thinking too much. They work well together and you will likely get to equip them all by the end of the game.
The only problem is that you don’t really have a lot of suggestions for Flex slots.
Here are the exact items the build uses if you don’t want to copy it exactly, but learn the general vibe of it:
Early Game
Since the early game will use the fact that you shoot extremely fast and the Burn damage from Afterburn to make you a very scary opponent. This is why you’ll likely see in every build that you need to quickly get Rapid Rounds.
After that it’s all about getting a bit tankier and faster. Make sure to get all of these items in the early game, as the buy/sell ratio is amazing for 500 Souls items.
- Rapid Rounds
- Enduring Spirit
- Spirit Boots
- Extra Charge
- Infuser
Mid Game – 1.25k Souls
The first batch of mid-game items aren’t that game-changing. Their role is to balance out your stats, making you strong enough to get through most fights.
- Soul Shredder Bullets
- Spirit Lifesteal
- Healbane
- Enduring Speed
- Debuff Reducer
- Bullet Armor
- Spirit Armor
- Duration Extender
- Suppressor
- Improved Cooldown
Mid Game – 3k Souls
The more expensive mid-game items are vital to make your Infernus a real threat. Toxic Bullets has amazing synergy with Afterburn, as it deals Bleed damage, allowing you to properly hurt enemies even when you can’t see them.
The real MVP here is Metal Skin, which makes you invulnerable to bullets and melee attacks for 3.5 seconds, exactly as much as you need to use your ultimate and then run away without losing any health.
Using Warp Stone will also allow you to instantly get between your enemies for the explosion, or to quickly get away while also getting more defense for the bullets that will come after you.
The rest of the items will either upgrade previous items or build you up to be more efficient.
- Toxic Bullets
- Warp Stone
- Improved Bullet Armor
- Improved Spirit Armor
- Debuff Remover
- Metal Skin
- Mystic Slow
- Superior Duration
- Rapid Recharge
- Improved Reach
- Superior Cooldown
Late Game
The only really expensive item you need is Spiritual Overflow, since it works very well with the way Infernus fights.
- Spiritual Overflow
