On the morning of March 22, 2025, gamers around the world awoke to the surprise that the infamous 2003 racing game Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing had a listing on Steam with an alleged Q2 2025 release date. However, not all was as it seemed.

For those unaware, Big Rigs has been infamous online for decades as one of the worst games ever released. This is due to its unfinished state where your car clips through all objects, goes at infinite speeds in reverse, and always wins each race due to the opponent AI not working. Naturally seeing such a meme title appear on Steam gained the interest of gamers.

This Steam listing was immediately suspicious. One immediate discrepancy is how the developer of the game is listed as Stellar Stone, despite that studio shutting down in 2004. While immediately strange, there have been examples in the past of games on Steam listing their original studios as developers still. What doesn’t have an easy explanation though is the publisher.

In what is easily the most suspicious part of this Steam page, Big Rigs has its publisher listed as Margarite Entertainment and not the last known rights owners of Big Rigs: GameMill Entertainment. Any attempts to search for Margarite Entertainment online lead only to this singular Steam page.

While this publisher difference is an immediate red flag, it isn’t the only thing suspicious about the store listing. The header image on the page appears to have been stolen directly from SteamGridDB and the actual client icon seems to be an AI-generated image.

All of this information together leads us to the conclusion that this alleged Steam listing for Big Rigs is fake and the game will not actually appear on the storefront this year.

Whether this Steam listing is the result of a simple internet prank or a money-making scheme is currently unknown, regardless of the reason though. It is very unlikely that gamers will be able to cheer at seeing the “You’re Winner” screen from Big Rigs at any time in the near future.
