At 10:00 AM EST on March 20, 2024, video game publisher Bandai Namco premiered a 13-minute video to showcase the first publicly available gameplay footage of Dragon Ball Sparking Zero. This trailer gave fans a taste of the Budokai Tenkaichi action they’ve been craving for a decade!
The first footage shown on stream was naturally a fight between Goku and Vegeta, in which we got brief glimpses of gameplay mechanics such as charging ki to regain energy, the return of the Dragon Dash mechanic, a counter system, and instant transmission behind the opponent.
Throughout the battle, a numbered gauge to the side of your character known as the skill count will naturally rise. As this number rises you will be able to perform iconic Dragon Ball moves such as the Kamehameha.
During this footage, we also see characters enter burst states, such as when Vegeta is surrounded by ki and begins to beat down Goku tremendously. As the battle goes on both characters are also able to transform into their Super Saiyan Blue forms, confirming mid-battle transformations!
The battle ends with both characters entering a limit break state known as Ultimate Blast where both heroes launch their ultimate attacks at each other, with the player being expected to mash the triangle button to win.
After explaining these vital gameplay systems, the video moves on to a montage of characters who will be joining the Sparking Zero roster. In this montage, we are given confirmarion that the following characters will be playable in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero:
- Super Saiyan Trunks
- Broly (DBS), Full Power
- Nappa
- Burter
- Kale (Berserk)
- Master Roshi
- Hit
- Jeice
- Dyspo
- Kakunsa

Dragon Ball Sparking Zero will be launching on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, and on PC later this year! At this time there is no currently revealed release date for the game.
