On August 24th, 2023, Publisher Square Enix released a new trailer for Game Studio and Kai Graphics’ video game adaptation of the popular Dragon Quest spinoff manga Dragon Quest Adventures of Dai.

Infinity Strash: Dragon Quest the Adventures of Dai is a stage-based hack-and-slash adventure game that allows players to experience the popular manga in a new format that fans of the mainline Dragon Quest franchise are more liable to enjoy.

The game shall feature four playable characters: Dai, Popp, Maam, and Hyunckel. Each character will play slightly differently with Dai focusing on knives and swords, Popp having attack-based magic, Maam being the team healer, and Hyunckel having dark aura skills. the trailer also shows off how the player can switch between any of them mid-combat to suit their current battle needs.

Throughout the trailer, we also see several of the game’s RPG mechanics such as the ability to equip accessories to increase their stats and help them in combat. Leveling up these accessories will also unlock images from the original Adventures of Dai manga for the player to view.

Aside from these accessory images, players will also be able to experience the manga’s story throughout the game as the trailer confirmed that the story mode will adapt the first half of the manga’s story. There is currently no word from Square Enix if the second half will be adapted.

Throughout the trailer, we also get a preview of a secondary game mode known as the Temple of Recollection. This temple is a replayable dungeon that changes every time the player visits it. The further you progress in the dungeon, the harder it will get. However, the rewards you obtain will also be more valuable later in the dungeon. Making it a great method for grinding out level-ups and accessories.

Players who have grinded their level high and upgraded said accessories will then be incentivized to try out the game’s challenge mode. Challenge mode consists of harder versions of each story chapter and foes not seen throughout the main game.

Infinity Strash: Dragon Quest the Adventures of Dai is looking to be an excellent product for fans of the hit video game franchise or its popular spinoff manga. The game is slated to be released on September 28th, 2023. Pre-orders for the game are currently available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
