Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 – All Gene-Seed Locations

Leveling up your class in Space Marine 2 is very important if you want access to that top-level drip that makes you truly unique in multiplayer lobbies. One of the best ways to make the process faster is for one of your squad members to carry a Gene-Seed to the end of the operation to give a big XP boost. In this guide I will show you all of the Gene-Seed spawn points, so you don’t have to run around each time you do a mission to find them.

How Do Gene-Seeds Work

The Gene-Seed can be carried in the same inventory slot as the Guardian Relic. This item, once picked up by one squad member, will give all of the party a 30% XP boost at the end of the operation.

However, this only happens if the person carrying the Gene-Seed doesn’t die until the end of the operation. If they fall even once, the Gene-Seed is lost. Also, if the person carrying the Gene-Seed picks up a Guardian Relic, the Gene-Seed will be lost.

In every mission, one Gene-Seed will spawn on the map in one of several set locations. If you know these locations, you can generally find one 99% percent of the time.

Inferno Operation Gene-Seed Locations

Swamp

Gene-Seed #1

After passing the bunker with the Dataslate, you’ll reach a burning tank where the path splits into two directions.

The Gene-Seed can spawn to the right of the tank, on top of a green crate.

Promethium Refinery

Gene-Seed #2

Right after leaving the Astra Militarum Camp, go to the left, through the pipe archway.

Walk to the big dead tree and go to the other side of it.

The Gene-Seed can spawn right behind it, hidden by the green containers.

Gene-Seed #3

Up on the platform where you are supposed to start the Bomb Deployment Protocol, look to the right at Generator 2. Walk to the right of it.

The Gene-Seed can spawn right next to the red and blue boxes, behind a movable cabinet.

Abandoned Base

Gene-Seed #4

After the “generator protection” minigame, you will enter an Abandoned Base. Right after jumping down, you will see in front of you a big water pipe. Go around it and reach the opposite end.

The Gene-Seed can spawn behind the little moveable containers there.

Gene-Seed #5

Right as you enter the large room with the elevator and the broken bridge in the distance, turn to the left. The Gene-Seed can spawn right behind the fallen table, in the corner.

Decapitation Operation Gene-Seed Locations

Imperial City

Gene-Seed #1

After getting out of the cathedral and walking up and down the steel staircases, you will reach a rooftop area with a big tower with 02 on it. Instead of going straight ahead, jump down the ledge to the left.

Immediately look to the left and you’ll see a hole in the wall. That’s where the Gene-Seed can spawn.

Station

Gene-Seed #2

After placing the charges, you will take the elevator up to the Station. When you reach the top floor, turn around and look at the statue to the left. The Gene-Seed can spawn to the left of the statue, behind the wooden rood screen.

Gene-Seed #3

To deal with the bridge attack, you’ll have to press the detonator when the Hive Tyrant is in the right position. While standing next to the detonator, turn around to face the Station. Go into the the Station, to the right.

You will reach an area full of red crates. The Seed-Geen can spawn in the left corner of the room, next to the two red crates.

Station Ducts

Gene-Seed #4

After taking the elevator down from the Station, look to the left corner behind you. Next to the little ladder in the corner there a Gene-Seed can often spawn.

Gene-Seed #5

Follow the Hive Tyrant into the tunnels by going objective to objective. Once you reach a room with a large fan in front of you, go to the right instead of following the objective to the left, to the same place where you’ve likely found a Dataslate before.

In that corridor, look on the left, behind the wire spools. That’s where the Gene-Seed can spawn.

Gene-Seed #6

While going after the Hyve Tyrant, you will take an elevator up to reach some air ducts. After defeating all the xenos in those tunnels, you will reach a large opening where you will see the Tyrant climbing somewhere high.

Jump down from the ducts and you will a large room with giant chains hanging in the middle. To the left there’s a room where a Gene-Seed can spawn. It’s right behind the box on the right.

Vox Liberatis Operation Gene-Seed Locations

Landing Zone

Gene-Seed #1

Right as you get out on the outside platform at the start of the operation and see the hordes of gargoyles flying in front of you, turn to the right.

The Gene-Seed can spawn right to the left of the large red and blue containers, stacked on top of each other.

Gene-Seed #2

As you progress on the starting platform, you’ll see a bunch of boxes on the right, before the entering the roofed zone. Approach those containers.

Go around the large red and green containers stacked on top of each other, along the railing.

The Gene-Seed can spawn behind them, next to a smaller red box.

Cathedral

Gene-Seed #3

When you reach the Cathedral doors, to go down to fight the heretics, go to the end of the corridor.

The Gene-Seed can spawn right behind the big pipes that go into the ground here.

Plaza

Gene-Seed #4

Right after getting out of the Cathedral, you’ll reach another big zone where you’ll need to destroy a Chaos Altar. The Gene-Seed can spawn on the left, behind the third pillar, before walking on white floor tiles.

Gene-Seed #5

After the fight in the first part of the Plaza, you’ll have to Assemble to take an elevator. Go to the right of the elevator.

The Gene-Seed can spawn at the end of the path, next to the ventilation shaft.

Gene-Seed #6

At the entrance into the Archive (or 2nd cathedral), go to the right.

The Gene-Seed can spawn to the right of the covered red box.

Archive

Gene-Seed #7

Though the objective calls this the “Cathedral,” the game calls it at the end when you check your exp rewards, the “Archive.” So, once you finish with the large flooded area and enter the Archive, you will find a loadout drop and then you will advance to take an elevator to the lower levels of the Cathedral.

Go to the right and make sure not to go on the elevator in the middle. At the end of the room, you’ll reach a closed gate.

The Gene-Seed can spawn right on the ground in front of the gate, between the big boxes.

Reliquary Operation Gene-Seed Locations

Mountain Road

Gene-Seed #1

Right at the start of the operation, you will reach a ruined crypt with a creepy statue. Go through the archway in between the walls.

The Gene-Seed can spawn right on the corner when you go to the right.

Tomb

Gene-Seed #2

In the main hall of the Tomb, face the large green console and walk up the stairs to the left.

Walk to the end of the floor and look on the ground inside the archway. The Gene-Seed can spawn on the right, next to the candles.

Gene-Seed #3

Right after exiting the Tomb, walk behind the dead tree to the left.

The Gene-Seed can spawn next to it.

Bridge

Gene-Seed #4

At the end of the Bridge section, you will reach a part with statues to the left and right, where you can see that you are right next to the Cathedral.

Jump down from the ledge and go straight to the right.

The Gene-Seed can spawn right behind the makeshift barricade in the corner to the right.

Gene-Seed #5

Right at the entrance to the Cathedral, take a left.

The Gene-Seed can spawn on the left, next to a little bush.

Fall of Atreus Operation Gene-Seed Locations

Necropolis

Gene-Seed #1

The starting area of the Fall of Atreus, Necropolis, has three floors. On the second floor, at the end, after passing the bridge, you will reach a little ramp that goes down to the last floor. On the right you’ll find a separate lit up room.

The Gene-Seed can spawn in the right corner, in front of the desks.

Gene-Seed #2

On the last floor, before passing the bridge, go to the right and enter the empty dark room there.

The Gene-Seed can spawn on the left, inside the open green cache on the ground.

Cemetery

Gene-Seed #2

In the Cemetery, while helping the Dreadnought, you’ll reach a set of stairs that leads the way to the Adeptus Mechanicus. Don’t go up the stairs, go to the right, where 4 crypts stand facing each other, with a little paved road in the middle.

The Gene-Seed can spawn next to the northern crypt, the one at the end of the road, inside an open green cache, same as the previous one.

Cathedral

Gene-Seed #4

After lifting the rock in the Cathedral and jumping down to the loadout point, go to the left.

The Gene-Seed can spawn right next to the hole in the ceiling, on the ground. It will look like it was inside a green container and it fell out of it.

Ballistic Engine Operation Gene-Seed Locations

Station Approach

Gene-Seed #1

At the start of the mission, when you reach the dust storm area, just hug the left wall. At some point you’ll reach a room.

After entering the room, immediately turn to the left. The Gene-Seed can spawn right behind the barrels on top of a wooden pallet.

Bomb Storage

Gene-Seed #2

Right as you jump down from the platforms to reach the Bomb Storage, walk straight ahead.

At the end of the path, when you reach the randomly generated A, B, C terminal, turn to the left.

The Gene-Seed can spawn between the barrels.

Outdoors

Gene-Seed #3

Right after taking the elevator from the Bomb Storage (after the A, B, C minigame), you will reach a hallway where the path splits. Go to the left.

Now, instead of going straight, to the objective, go to the left and enter the secondary room. Turn to the left and look in the right corner for a possible Gene-Seed. It’s in the same place where the Armory Data can spawn, just on the right side rather than on the left.

Gene-Seed #4

In the dust storm area, when you reach the extendable bridge, look to the right. The Gene-Seed can spawn right in front of the 2nd altar with candles on the right.

Train Station

Gene-Seed #5

At the Train Station, when you need to jump down on the tracks, walk straight ahead, past the large red container.

The Gene-Seed can spawn behind the tiny gray crane, next to the large gray train wagon.

Termination Operation Gene-Seed Locations

Jungle

Gene-Seed #1

The first Gene-Seed will appear in the Jungle, after you pass the camp with the burning tank and a possible Armory Data spawn point. You’ll reach a swamp like area filled with enemies and corpse piles. Hug the left wall of the area.

Once you reach a huge corpse pile on the ground, you’ll also find an area to the left where three storage boxes are sitting. The Gene-Seed can spawn on top of them.

Gene-Seed #2

During the later parts of the region, you’ll reach a space where you have to jump down and push a boulder out of the way. After getting past the boulder, walk to the left, inside a cave.

You’ll see a part of the cave that’s lit up from the sun. Go back there and you’ll find supply cache with rolled up tent on top of it. The Gene-Seed can spawn on top of the box.

Generator Hall

Gene-Seed #3

Right after the door opens and you reach the Generator Hall, with the big locked door in front of you, go to the right.

Take a second right, go down the stairs, and enter the big hole in the wall full of guts. The Gene-Seed can spawn in the left corner at the end of the room, on top of the guts.

Gene-Seed #4

After passing through the gate, walk under the bridge to the left.

The Gene-Seed can spawn right on the cache next to the door with a skull on it.

Quartermaster Storage

Gene-Seed #5

After jumping down on the rail track area, before the elevator, go to the left, through the J3 doorway.

The Gene-Seed can spawn on the right, on top of the two little crates there.

Obelisk Operation Gene-Seed Locations

Bridge

Gene-Seed #1

The first spawn location is right at the start of the mission. Your first task will be to reach an elevator Assembly point to climb the bridge. Instead of going to the elevator when you reach the blue tanks, go to the right.

The Gene-Seed can spawn right in this little clearing, in the upper right corner, on a rock.

Gene-Seed #2

After you jump down from the bridge, when you can finally see the Tomb in the distance, go to the left. You’ll find a little hidden underground area that’s lit up.

At the end of this tunnel, you’ll find an opening into a lit altar with a statue. Don’t enter through that hole. Instead, look to the left and you can find the Gene-Seed spawn location right under the pipe there, on top of a square-ish stone.

Tomb Entrance

Gene-Seed #3

There are two ways the Tomb can go. Right after you pick up the chalice, you’ll reach a corridor where you can place down the chalince. Here, either the door forward will be open, or the one to the right.

If you go forward, your “mission” will be finding a servoskull. If you go to the right, your mission will be to reactivate consoles. If you went forward, go to the next Gene-Seed.

After passing through the door shown in the image above (which will be open), hug the left wall until you find a chalice stand.

Go to the left and you can find a Gene-Seed at the end of the tunnel, behind a bunch of red caskets.

Tomb Exit

Gene-Seed #4

If you went forward through the Tomb after picking up the chalice, then here’s where you need to keep an eye out for a Gene-Seed.

After the servoskull will open a door for you, you’ll have to jump down on a broken platform and get down a set of stairs to reach a large door that you’ll need to interact with to open. Don’t open it. Instead, go to the left and through the whole in the wall.

The Gene-Seed can spawn in that room, next to the large canister.

Gene-Seed #5

The last Gene-Seed on this map spawn right at the end of the Tomb, right before the exit door. If you went through the right part of the Tomb, you’ll jump down a ledge at the end to reach the exit. Go to the left toward the sealed door and the Gene-Seed can spawn behind a tombstone.

If you took the forward path of the Tomb, right at the end, take a left. You’ll find the Gene-Seed behind the tombstone there.
