Tekken 8 Next Closed Beta Date Revealed

Tekken 8 Next Closed Beta Date Revealed

Gamers across the world have been awaiting news and character reveals for the 8th main installment in the Tekken franchise. It is one of the most anticipated fighting games of 2024 and news was expected to be released around the time of the Tokyo Game Show in September of 2023.

As expected, on September 19, 2023, Japanese game publisher Bandai Namco uploaded a trailer to their YouTube channel revealing a new character for their upcoming fighting game Tekken 8 as well as revealing the date of their next Closed Beta Network Test.

The character revealed in this trailer was Feng Wei, a popular recurring character who first made his debut in Tekken 5 back in 2004. He would later go on to appear in nine separate Tekken games and spinoffs, with his appearance here in Tekken 8 being his tenth game overall.

Feng Wei is the definitive hit-and-run character who makes up for his lack of heavy-hitting combos and launch moves with a flexible moveset that allows him to bait opponents toward him before backstepping away.

Alongside Feng’s reveal, the publisher also announced the date of Tekken 8’s second Closed Beta Network Test. A few lucky players will get their hands on this online multiplayer demo of the game on October 20, 2023.

This will be the second Closed Beta Network Test that Bandai Namco has performed for Tekken 8, the first was back in July of 2023. This first test included 16 of the game’s playable characters and allowed a lucky few gamers to really get a taste of how Tekken 8 will play.

The Closed Beta Network test will run for three days, ending on October 23, 2023. Registrations for the Test are currently available on Bandai Namco’s official Tekken Website.

Tekken 8 releases on January 26, 2024, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, and PC via Steam. Pre-orders are currently available on all platforms.
