Video Game developer and publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment took to Twitter on December 12, 2023, to announce that Tekken 8 would be receiving a downloadable demo on all platforms.
This upcoming demo will feature the first chapter of the game’s new story mode known as The Dark Awakens. In addition to this, the demo will include a local versus mode for players to train against each other in.
Details on what will be included in the first chapter of The Dark Awakens and the local versus mode are currently very scarce. The local versus mode is expected to not feature many characters as other fighting game demos such as Street Fighter 6’s and Super Smash Bros’ only include two characters.
As such, many gamers are expecting only to be able to play as Jin and Kazuya in this demo. However even with that expectation, many are excited to get their hands on Tekken 8 in any form.
The PlayStation 5 version of the demo will launch first for the PlayStation store on December 14, 2023. The Xbox Series S|X and Steam versions of the demo will launch a week later for their respective storefronts.
This upcoming demo is only the newest strategy by Bandai Namco to build up hype for the upcoming Tekken 8. Over the past few months, the publisher has been releasing near-weekly trailers revealing new and returning characters for the game.
Gamers around the world are expecting this to be the best Tekken in years and many are confident that the game will sell well despite being released in one of the busiest release weeks gaming has seen in years.
Tekken 8 is expected to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, and PC via Steam on January 26, 2023. The game is currently available for pre-order on all platforms.
