Most gamers are always up for a challenge in a video game. The piloting simulator for the UC Vanguard in Starfield might seem like a fun little challenge at first until you have loaded your quick load more than a dozen times to attempt tier 5 and 6 for the “last time.” Though this is one of the first things you will likely stumble into in Starfield, one of the main reasons most of us can’t beat the final tiers is that we don’t have enough points in Piloting skills. What Happens If You Beat Tier 6 in the UC Vanguard Piloting Simulator in Starfield
To pass the exam, all you need to do is pass tier 3. However most gamers won’t be happy knowing there were 3 more tiers they could have won. So, here is what happens if you beat tier 6 of the UC Vanguard Piloting Simulator Exam in Starfield:
- Tuala and Sarah congratulate you for doing something no one has ever done.
- You get 3 years until you get your UC citizenship.
- A lot of Credits.
Though the first two things might sound nice and all, they won’t actually help you in the story in any way. You can just as well only pass tier 4 and get “10 years” until your UC citizenship. However, this will not matter as you advance through the faction storyline.
All that matters here is the Credits that you get for completing any extra tier above 3. If you just complete 3 tiers, you just pass the exam. However, anything over will get you extra credits based on your level.
If you are at the start of the game, around level 4 or 5, you won’t get more than 17k Credits, even with tier 6. So, in theory, if the piloting simulation is too much for you, just give up. There is nothing here to win besides pride.

How to Beat Tier 5 and 6 of the UC Vanguard Piloting Simulator in Starfield
There are two ways to beat tier 5 and 6 of the UC Vanguard Piloting Simulator Exam in Starfield:
- Properly
- Cheesy
The proper way to win the battles would be to come and do them later in the game after you get some Tech skill points that make you an incredible pilot. These will also be useful in the simulation, allowing you to be much better than you would be at level 4.
You can also get up from the pilot seat and interact with the Simulation Controls, close to the pilot room, where you get to restart the tier and activate debug mode. This will allow you to increase your damage, armor, and get an ally for a single tier.
However, there is a cheesy way you can beat tier 5 and 6 of the UC Vanguard Piloting Simulator Exam in Starfield at the lowest level possible:
- Drive your ship “inside” the space station that you can see in the distance. You will see there is a gap where you can place the ship properly in there and just hover.
- When the enemies spawn, get up from the seat and watch them as they fly around in circles, hitting the space station until they explode.
- Do this for the last 2 tiers until all enemies are down.
And that is how you can beat tier 5 and 6 without actually putting any effort into the simulation. You can also do this for the lower tiers, but those are easy enough as it is.
