At Six One Indie Showcase 2026, indie game developer C#4R4CT3R unveiled the latest trailer for their upcoming lo-fi psycho-thriller romance Visual Novel Rain98.
This trailer, titled Reveal Trailer (Updated Version) by the developers, showcased the game’s theme song, which is sung by Rio Tsuchiya, who also voices the game’s central character, Reina Amehara.
In addition to showing off more moments in the life of Reina Amehara, this trailer also showcased various prominent moments that were present in the PAX East and BitSummit 2026 demos for the game.
Before the trailer, game director Shoon T had the following statement to give about the game.
“Immerse yourself in its deep blue atmosphere. Let the lights, shadows, and lofi beats pull you into a hypnotic trance. Violence, horror, fetishism, and mystery will follow you on this journey toward the end of the world— and I hope you savor every moment of it.”
About Rain98
Rain98 is a Visual Novel set in the year 1998 about a girl named Reina who hates the world and wishes to destroy it, but in order to do so, the player must keep her happy and make memories with her in order to earn happiness stamps that she will use to activate her powers.
Making memories with Reina and earning those happiness stamps will see the player spend each day with her and help her with menial tasks such as cleaning her apartment, doing laundry, and helping her put her socks on.
In order to make memories with Reina, the player must first make money through various tasks, such as stuffing small toys into gacha capsules.
The game was initially announced and scheduled to release in 2025, but has since been delayed to 2026 on Steam.
