While Sega’s Sakura Wars franchise has been somewhat dormant in recent years, the series’ dedicated fanbase has been keeping its spirit alive via new fan translations and archival work. On Oct 10, 2025, a very unexpected part of the series was archived: the official Sakura Wars trading card game.
Sakura Wars Dramatic Card Game was first released by Sega in the early 2000s as a way to capitalize on the ever-growing popularity of the Sakura Wars IP. The game allowed players to play cards of their favorite in order to fight enemies that disturb the peace of the city and prevent you from performing. Similar to the main games themselves, this card game never left Japan, and for many, has become a footnote when discussing the series’ history.
A social media user who goes by the name Kanna’s Nr.1 Fan has spent the past few years collecting and scanning each and every single card. Their intention is to eventually translate each of these cards into English and make this long-forgotten card game playable by the Western Sakura Wars fanbase.
While it will be some time before the card game is fully translated, for now, Kanna’s Nr.1 Fan has uploaded all of the game’s cards to Archive.org. This archive features high-quality scans of 243 of the game’s cards from its first two release waves. Sadly some cards from Waves 1 and 2 have yet to be found and scanned, with the entirety of Wave 3 being unarchived as well.
The art on said cards can vary from being sprites/CGs from the games, previous official character art, and entirely new art depicting plays in the Sakura Wars universe that the audience never got to experience while playing the games. A large amount of this art has never been seen by western fans before and is worth checking out.
Kanna’s Nr.1 Fan would also like to credit those who helped them crop the cards for this archive, one of whom is the very writer of this new piece. They are also in search of a Typesetter who can help with the translation of the cards, requesting that those interested contact Kanna’s Nr.1 Fan on social media.

Included below are the two links to the archive of 243 cards from the Sakura Wars Dramatic Card Game’s. This is just the latest in a long line of Sakura Wars material finally becoming accessible to the English fanbase, and likely won’t be the last as more games and stage shows are translated.
