Larian Studios has been proven to be one of the most beloved game developers and publishers recently. Not only has their own work been seen as some of the greatest games in recent memory, but they have also been backing other game developer’s projects via Kickstarter!

According to Enrique Colinet, Larian Studios was one of the biggest backers of The Game Kitchen’s Metroidvania game Blasphemous when that title began as a Kickstarter title back in 2017. Larian Studios donated $1,000 to the “The Punisher” tier of the Kickstarter, the second most expensive tier, and reportedly never requested to receive backer rewards as well!

What makes this particular donation more astonishing than most is that it was before Larian had released Divinity: Original Sin 2, which put the studio on the map as a successful venture and means that they had much less money to simply throw around back when this Kickstarter was active.

Blasphemous isn’t the only title the studio has helped back as a quick glance at their Kickstarter profile reveals Larian has been donating to several other campaigns over the years! One of these titles is the 2021 D&D-inspired RPG Solasta: Crown of the Magister, which Larian donated $2,700 to the development of.

Due to the studio’s connection to D&D and their eagerness to fund projects related to it, some also claim that the studio invested in the Pathfinder: Kingmaker video game Kickstarter back in 2017. However, if they did, the amount was less than $1,000 as Larian Studio’s name cannot be seen among the largest backers of the game.

According to their Kickstarter profile, Larian Studios has backed 25 separate projects on the website over the years. While we do not have a complete list of the projects they have backed, it is clear that the studio loves to see up-and-rising game devs get their due and make their dreams a reality, who they help without publicly making their monetary support known. Adding another reason for gamers to love this studio.

Blasphemous is currently available to purchase for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and on PC via Steam. Solasta: Crown of the Magister is currently available to purchase on PlayStation 5 Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, and on PC via Steam.
