The Legend of Heroes Trails Through Daybreak is Finally Releasing in English

On September 21, 2023, video game publishing company NIS America announced that they would be handling the localization of the beloved Falcom-developed JRPG: The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreaks.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak, known in Japan and amongst English-speaking fans as Kuro no Kiseki was originally released in Japan in September of 2021 for PlayStation 4. It received much critical praise and even a sequel in 2022, but not a word was said about an English localization until today.

This localization marks a huge moment in the history of the English Trails fanbase as The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak is the first game in the franchise’s second arc. Allowing returning players to finally experience a new story that the Japanese fanbase has become well acquainted with as well as allowing new players to finally begin playing Legend of Heroes without the baggage of the previous eighteen games’ plot.

In addition to this localization, publisher NIS America also announced that the game would be ported to several additional platforms such as Nintendo’s Switch console.

With the announcement of the localization, a trailer showcasing the game and its English dub cast was also published on YouTube. This trailer showcases the entire party, gives new players an idea of what to expect from each character, and even sprinkles in various details about the game’s overarching plot.

After introducing the party the trailer shows off several gameplay sequences from the game to give players a glimpse at the franchise’s first real-time battle system that is a combination of the previous Trails’ games turn-based combat and the action combat of Falcom’s Ys franchise.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak is expected to be released in the summer of 2024 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. Pre-orders are not currently available on any platform.
