One of the simpler mysteries in Indiana Jones And The Great Circle is finding Signor Smushki. Once you figure out you can climb on the rooftops of Vatican City, suddenly a bunch a cats appear at every corner. For this mystery, you only need to find one cat, but there are actually 5 cats scattered across the city that will give you extra experience once you take a picture of them. In this guide, I will show you where to find all 5 cats and how to complete the “A Free Spirit” mystery.
Starting the Mystery
The “A Free Spirit” mystery begins at the Vatican when you:
- Pick up the missing cat poster near the Tower of Nicholas V
- Learn about Signor Smushki, a black cat with a distinctive white chest tuft
- Collecting all 5 cat photos is optional, it provides extra Adventure Points
Cat Photo Locations
Cat #1: Black and White Cat

- Location: Near a tree in an inner garden
- Directions:
- Go opposite the missing cat poster
- Take a right into an alley with a talking fascist
- Look left before the steps begin
Cat #2: Signor Smushki (Main Target)

- Location: Rooftop near Vatican
- Directions:
- Find the black gates and alley
- Locate ladder on the right side
- Climb up through multiple levels
- Find Smushki at the end of a split roof section
- Photograph the black cat with white chest tuft
Cat #3: Orange Cat

- Location: Roof with painters
- Directions:
- Climb down from Smushki’s roof
- Enter a room at the road’s end
- Jump on boxes
- Climb to the roof
- Photograph the orange cat
Cat #4: White Cat

- Location: Narrow rooftop path
- Directions:
- Move to the right side of the orange cat’s roof
- Carefully walk the narrow path
- Cross to the next roof
- Photograph the white cat sitting on roof tiles
Cat #5: Brown Cat

- Location: Near first descent ladder
- Directions:
- Jump to a higher roof from previous location
- Walk carefully along narrow paths
- Descend using ladders
- Photograph the brown cat near the ladder base
Completing the Mystery
- Return to the original noticeboard
- Pin Signor Smushki’s photograph to the missing cat poster
- Receive 100 Adventure Points
- Earn additional 10 Adventure Points for each extra cat photographed
