Epic Games seems to have been piling nothing but bad press for Fortnite as of late. From removing the concept of skin rarities from the game entirely to censoring the word devil in one of the new Coachella emotes, the company seemed to be banking on the current Avatar to give them some positive publicity.
Unfortunately, the beginning of the event has only served to bring another spotlight on Fortnite’s bizarre business practices, as before players even had a chance to acquire the new Avatar weapons, it became clear a much bigger change was made to the current loot pool.
Despite the theme of Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 being Greek mythology and weapons, Epic Games has decided to vault all Greek-themed weapons until the end of the season. The vaulted weapons are as follows:
- Thunderbolt of Zeus
- Wings of Icarus
- Chain of Hades
The vaulting of these weapons has naturally caused a lot of anger within the fanbase, as many players found these items to be incredibly fun and balanced. In addition to this, they also brought great publicity to the game after a few viral tweets showcased them in action.

It is suspected that the weapons were vaulted in an attempt to keep the game balanced alongside the current four Avatar elemental bending weapons. However, many players bemoan this choice as they wanted a chaotic loot pool on par with the time the Dragon Ball Z and My Hero Academia events ran simultaneously.
The currently vaulted Greek-themed will remain unobtainable until the Avatar collaboration event ends on May 3, 2024. Meaning that nearly a whole month of the Greek season will have no Greek weaponry. A decision that will surely affect people’s future opinions on the season.
Fortnite is currently available to download on Android, IOS, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series S|X, and PC via the Epic Games Store.
