If there’s one type of video game puzzle that gamer’s have grown accustomed to over the years, it’s mysterious rooms which appear to loop until they figure out where to go. Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave’s Wandering Wood dungeon is the newest in a long lineage of these types of puzzles popularized by Ocarina of Time’s Lost Woods, Trails in the Sky Second Chapter’s Lost Woods, and Shrek Dragon Tales’ Lost Woods levels. This dungeon, located in the south of the continent, can throw the player for a loop if they aren’t used to looking for environmental clues. If you’re confused on how to progress through this dungeon, then please feel free to use this walkthrough detailing how to escape the Wandering Wood in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave.

How to Escape the Wandering Wood in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave

When entering any room of the Wandering Wood, you’ll be greeted with three different exits. March through the wrong one and you’ll be sent right back to the start of the dungeon. Thankfully, you won’t need to make any guesses about which exit is the correct one as there’s actually an environmental hint which makes the right way to go pretty obvious.

In each room of the Wandering Wood, you’ll be able to find a blue butterfly flying in front of one of the exits. This butterfly will always be floating in front of the correct way to go. March through the exit closest to the butterfly and instead of looping back to the start you’ll move on to the next (albeit identical) room.

Repeat this process three times and you’ll finally enter a room which looks different from the others. Inside of this room there will be a treasure chest which contains a Verdant Gem. This item is an accessory which grants one of your units a 20% chance to gain +20 to their evasion stat during combat. This is a fantastic reward which makes visiting the Wandering Wood more than worth the trip.

Once you’ve opened the treasure chest, continue following the butterfly for two more rooms and you’ll find the exit. That’s all the Wandering Wood has to offer but passing through it all the way to the end will unlock more paths to march down to the southern edge of the continent.
