Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave – All Units and How to Recruit Them

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave features one of the largest rosters of recruitable characters in the franchise’s history, and more than half of them are optional units that you must go out of your way to unlock around Dagison. Every character has different recruitment requirements which send the player running across the entire continent of Dagda whenever they have free time. With there being a veritible platoon of recruitable units, it can be a bit hard to keep track of all of their recruitment requirements (especially when they’re different across routes. If you’re looking to recruit every character in the game, here is an in-depth guide for recruiting every character in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave.

Part 1 Units

Recruiting units in Part 1 of the game involves raising your protagonist’s Renown as well as raising the support level between the protagonist and the unit you wish to recruit. Most character also have an extra recruitment requirement that the game refers to as a negotiation which varies for each character.

The Support level needed to recruit each unit also varies on which protagonist’s route you’re playing, but as a general rule of thumb if you want to recruit a unit you should frequently invite them to meals and give them gifts once a week. While some optimal gifts will be mentioned in this guide, if you want an in-depth explanation on which gifts each character loves you should look through our Loved Gifts guide.

Alexandra

Alexandra is one of the few non-tutorial units in the game with no special recruitment requirement other than raising your Support with her high enough and reaching a high enough level of Renown. Leda and Dietrich will have to wait until near the end of their routes to recruit her while Theodora will be able to recruit her almost immediately after Alexandra appears in Dagison, which is quite strange considering their only story interaction.

Benditz

Benditz is another free unit in terms of having no special quest to recruit him, presumably so the player will have at least one free Chariot Rider unit, but his Renown requirement is high across all four routes due to him being a proud general and not being willing to serve just anyone. Theordora will have the easiest time recruiting him.

Because Buccar’s recruitment is tied directly to one of the game’s Paralouges, both Dietrich and Theodora will need to with until the ninth month of the year in order to recruit him. In order to start this Paralogue you must speak to Leda in Dagison from 9/2 to 9/8, giving you only a week to accept the quest.

After speaking to Leda, you’ll be instantly thrown into one of the strangest Paralogues in the game as dozens upon dozens of bears break loose and begin attacking people in Dagison. Not only is this the strangest Paralogue in the game, but it’s also the simplest in terms of gameplay.

The only thing you need to do in this Paralogue is defeat all of the bears. That may sound a bit scary because well, it’s 25 bears, but these bears are a bit weaker than the normal ones you see during battles so it shouldn’t take too long. The map will even give you some generic guest units to help you out if the bears are giving you too much trouble.

After defeating all the bears and clearing Leda’s paralogue, speak to Buccar with the appropriate Support and Renown to recruit him into your party.

Catania

RouteSupport RequirementRenown RequirementSpecial Requirement
Cai310N/A

Dietrich18N/A

Catania is the tutorial unit for recruiting new party members during Leda’s route and as a result has no special recruit requirements. Leda is the only character who can recruit her early in the game but Dietrich won’t have to work hard to get her either due to the low support requirement.

Dadao

RouteSupport RequirementRenown RequirementSpecial Requirement
Cai37Give him 2 Kothar Gar
Leda25Give him 2 Kothar Gar
Theodora25Give him 2 Kothar Gar
Dietrich310Give him 2 Kothar Gar

Due to Dadoa’s primary character trait being about him searching for someone to love him, he is much more willing to join the parties of the game’s female protagonists Leda and Theodora than he is to join men like Cai and Dietrich. If you want to recruit Dadao as either of them then you better hurry up and begin to gift him items he loves like Tales of Adventure and Poems of the Great.

After raising your Support Level with Dadao high enough and reaching the appropriate amount of Renown, you’ll be given a request by Dadao before you can recruit him. At this point, you may begin to suspect that Dadao is a complete joke character as he has an utterly ridiculous recruitment requirement of giving him 2 Kothar Gar.

You likely don’t need to be told where to get Kothar Gar as you retrieved them during the tutorial for searching, but just in case you are in need of them, they can be gathered in the fishing spot on the world map exactly one space to the left of Dagison. Even if you don’t have any, it’ll only take you a single turn to go and get them for Dadao.

For your lack of effort, you’ll be rewarded with a party member who has a personal skill that gives him +5 Attack if he’s fighting an enemy who is slow to the point of not being able to perform a follow-up attack.

Dante

RouteSupport RequirementRenown RequirementSpecial Requirement
Cai310Pay Her 8,000 Gold
Leda310Pay Her 8,000 Gold
Theodora36Pay Her 8,000 Gold
Dietrich28Pay Her 8,000 Gold

As you can see, Dietrich and Theodora will have the easiest time recruiting Dante though only Theodora will have her for theoretically more than half a route. Cai and Leda meanwhile won’t be able to get her until near the end of their routes.

Our biggest obstacle to recruit Dante will be raising our support with her. To do that we’ll need to take her to feasts, bring her to the theater, and give her a gift once a week until she decides we are more than a simple plebeian. Dante likes herself, writing, and searching for dramatic subjects.

So what do we give her as a gift? Well her favorite gift item is actually her own writing! Give her “The Works of Dante” and you’ll be swimming in Support Points! Magic-Trick sets and alcohol are also pretty good for getting Support points with her if you don’t have her writing on hand.

Once you’ve hit the appropriate support level with Dante, you’ll be able to recruit her. There is a fee though, as she’ll ask you to pay her a huge salary for the honor of being one of her study subjects. It’ll cost you a whopping 8,000 Gold to put her in your party, making her the most expensive recruitment in the game.

The money is well worth it though as Dante has one of the best Personal Skill in the game. Any allied unit within two spaces of her will gain +10 Ddg during combat. If you are running a party with a lot of glass cannon characters, then Dante will be key to your survival.

RouteSupport RequirementRenown RequirementSpecial Requirement
Cai310Clear Orchel’s Paralogue
Leda39Clear Orchel’s Paralogue
Theodora28Clear Orchel’s Paralogue

Despite the Renown and Support requirement for Diego being different among all four protagonists, he is actually a character that must be recruited at the exact same time for all four of them. From 10/18 to 10/21, the player will be able to accept an optional Paralogue quest from Orchel via speaking to her at Dagison.

This Paralogue will lead the player to a very unique map where they must activate a catapult via splitting their army in half and flipping two switches at the same time. There is a massive number of enemies on this map so don’t expect it to be as easy as Talimun and Bertrand’s Paralogues were. Due to the large number of mages and pegasus units on the map, I’d recommend bringing pugilists and archers to counter them.

Once you have cleared the Paralogue, return to Dagison and raise Diego’s Support level as high as you need to via giving him gifts, taking to feasts, and watching theater performances with him. Once his Support level has been raised high enough, he’ll join your party without any further fuss.

Dietrich will automatically recruit Esmeralda near the start of his story while most of the other characters will have to wait until after the preliminary rounds of the gladiator games end before they’ll be able to convince her to join their party.

As for what gifts you should be giving Esmeralda, fishing rods and hooks are your best play as she seems to really enjoy all fishing related gifts. Cai especially will be able to raise her support level fast as he only needs to bring her to Support level 2.

Now for the big part of recruiting her: Esmerelda’s request. Before she will even considering leaving Dietrich’s party to join yours, Esmerelda will ask you to slay some sea beasts at Cape Damasen near the northern edge of the continent before they can threaten the village of Fina.

This quest expires at the end of November so you’ll only have a few months to complete it during each character’s route. The battle itself will be a small skirmish against six sea beasts. The levels of these creatures scales depending on the time of year you decide to challenge them. If you are doing the quest as soon as it’s available, they’ll be around level 19. If you put it off until later, they will be a higher level.

The map where you fight these beasts is covered in water tiles. To win the skirmish as fast as possible, make sure you bring some pegasus rider units like Alexandra who can completely ignore those environmental tiles. Once you have defeated all of the beasts, return to Dagison and speak to Esmeralda again to recruit her.

Fabio

Every unit’s recruitment requirements varies depending on your route in order to make sure you don’t rely on the same party for all characters. Fabio however can only be recruited by two characters and one of those is a story moment, making his status as a recruitable character stranger than others.

DietrichStory RecruitmentStory RecruitmentStory Recruitment

Yes, Leda is the only character other than Dietrich to be able to recruit Fabio but she also cannot recruit him until after Dietrich’s party loses in the semi-finals of the tournament. This means that you will need to clear a paralogue as Leda in Chapter 11 and then officially recruit him in Chapter 12.

Starting with the Chapter 11 Paralogue, Fabio will appear in Dagison on 10/16 and ask the player for assistance. Accept and then report to the specified location before 11/1 to begin Dietrich’s Paralouge. This Paralogue, Sealed-Off Past, if one of the easier ones in the game thankfully.

This map will ask one thing of you: Prevent any enemies from reaching Fabio for 10 turns. While that may sound a bit scary, by this point in the game your party will be more than stronger enough to handle the very few enemies who will actively be charging forward. The guest Dietrich in your party alone should be more than enough to handle the Titanus charging from the center.

After surviving for 10 turns, wait until Chapter 12 and Fabio will be recruitable. Unfortunately, he will not join your party until you give him an item that you believe is of equal value to him. It’s difficult to figure out what this means, but the game has multiple rare items that will work.

I personally got Fabio to join my party by giving him an Electron Agitator but other rare items like Cleansing Blades also work. Once he has been given a fitting enough item, he’ll join Leda’s party and be just as useful as he was on Dietrich’s path, not that you’ll have much time to use him.

Fianna

Every unit’s recruitment requirements varies depending on your route in order to make sure you don’t rely on the same party for all characters. Some protagonists can get Fianna relatively early while others will need to wait quite a while to get her. Here are her recruitment requirements across all four routes.

RouteSupport RequirementRenown RequirementSpecial Requirement
Cai38Pay her 3000 Gold
Leda35Pay her 3000 Gold
Theodora39Pay her 3000 Gold
Dietrich37Pay her 3000 Gold

Leda is the only character who can recruit Fianna relatively early in her route but no one will have to wait the entire game before getting her. Which is good as you don’t want to find yourself in a situation where you’re desperate for a healer but there’s none available.

Each protagonist needs to reach Rank 3 Support with Fianna before she’ll join them, so make sure you invite her to meals, bring her to the theater, and bring her gifts she loves like Arrowhead Gems, Blue-Rose Bouquets, and Volcano Ghosh

Once you have gotten enough Renown and reached rank 3 Support with Fianna, you’ll be able to ask her to join your team. Sadly, she still owes a lot to Talimun and won’t be joining your party for free. Despite that, her actual asking price to leave one clan and join another isn’t that high.

If you have 3000 gold on hand (There are almost certainly enough side quests in your current chapter to get that much) then you can pay Fianna to join your party. Fianna’s personal skill is a very interesting one as gives her a chance of healing an ally without any cost to her magic, essentially giving you a free heal if you’re going to be in situations where you’re healing more than 10 times per stage.

Gaitz

Gaitz is the only optional unit in Part 1 of the story who can only be recruited in a single character’s route.

CaiN/AN/AN/A

TheodoraN/AN/AN/A
Dietrich310Clear Bertrand’s Paralogue and Reach Chapter 12

You’ll need to reach Support level 3 with Gaitz and Rank 10 renown in order to recruit him, but neither of those are the big barrier toward recruiting him. No, most players miss this unit because he is tied to a paralogue that is extremely missable on Dietrich’s route.

The time period where this Paralogue is available is incredibly short. The quest will first become available upon speaking to Gabriel in front of the Arena on 9/17 This quest is ONLY available on day for Dietrich, not a day before and not a day later. If you are not in Dagison on 9/17, you will not be able to recruit Gaitz.

After accepting the Paralogue quest, speak to Gabriel again and you’ll be thrown into an arena match against Peppe where Bertrand will join your party as a temporary guest character.

This brief side chapter will see you fight alongside Bertrand as you and your party must slay four giants before Peppe’s team can. Each team can make giants invincible to the other party for one turn using bait, but your party will only have access to 3 of these so use them wisely.

My advice for this battle is to fight normally until a second giant appears in the eastern part of the arena. Once it does, send a pegasus knight over there and spend three turns in a row using bait on the giant. Assuming that you were able to slay two giants before this third one appeared, you should be able to stall Peppe’s party long enough for you to clear out your third and fourth giants before they can even reach the final one.

After you have cleared the paralogue, you’ll still need to wait multiple in-game months before you’ll be able to recruit Gaitz. Because he is such a major part of Bertrand’s team and speaks during the cutscenes where you fight Bertrand, he cannot be recruit until after you defeat Bertrand in the 11th chapter of Dietrich’s story. Meaning that you will have to wait until chapter 12, the final one in this story, before you’ll be able to recruit him.

Gaitz’ personal skill is well worth the strict recruitment requirement though, as he grants +3 defense to all adjacent units, making him a very vital unit for when you eventually reach Part 2 where all enemies will be dealing double digits damage to your party.

Goliath

Every unit’s recruitment requirements varies depending on your route in order to make sure you don’t rely on the same party for all characters. Some protagonists can get Goliath relatively early while others will need to wait quite a while to get him. Here are his recruitment requirements across all four routes.

RouteSupport RequirementRenown RequirementSpecial Requirement
Cai37Give him 3 Giant’s Meat
Leda310Give him 3 Giant’s Meat
Theodora39Give him 3 Giant’s Meat
Dietrich36Give him 3 Giant’s Meat

Raising Goliath’s Support level high enough to recruit him won’t give you any difficulty. Just takes him to feasts, go to the theater with him, and gift him Strategy Mauscripts and Volcano Ghosh to make him see you as one of your best friends. No, the real obstacle between you and recruiting him is what he asks for: 3 pieces of Giant’s Meat.

As the name implied, Giant’s Meat is an enemy drop that can only be obtained from Giants. Gathering this material is a bit of a double edged sword. Because on the one hand, Giants will always drop this material (Unless you’re fighting them in Bertrand Paralogue, where they do not drop anything). On the other hand though, Giants are by far the rarest enemy type in Fortune’s Weave and even finding one of them to fight can be difficult.

The only place where Giants that you can fight spawn is via random skirmishes in Pasithea, the region of the continent in the south west. The issue however, is that these spawns are completely random so you’ll need to get lucky. At the moment I have also been unable to find any dungeons which consistently spawn dungeons similar to how other rare enemies like Sandworms have a single grinding spot that the player can take advantage of.

If waiting around for random skirmishes isn’t to your liking (Or if you’re playing Cai’s Route, where you can’t go to Pasithea), there is another relatively consistent way of gaining Giant’s Meat, but it will take quite a few turns to do. Near Aurora’s Temple in the south of the map there is a search spot called the “Secret Altar”

When searching here, there is a chance that you will get a rare material called “Luxury Meat Crate”. If you go into your inventory and open this item, you have a chance of either getting Giant’s Meat or Sandworm Meat. It’s a bit of a gamble, and it took me about 15 turns to get 3 pieces of Giant’s Meat myself, but it’s the only semi-consistent method in the game for getting this material.

Once you’ve gotten the Giant’s Meat, make your way back to Goliath and he’ll be more than glad to leave his brother’s team to join up with yours. Goliath is one of the best tank units in the game, no debate. He is also the only character whose personal skill is entirely a debuff as it prevents him from being a cavalry unit. Not that it matters, as Goliath is more than happy with his role of being a guy who charges into the frontline and never dies.

Guzran

The Unkillable Guzran is the tutorial unit for recruiting characters in Cai’s route and as a result doesn’t have any special sidequest or recruitment requirement in ANY route. All you need to do is buddy up to him (Heck Cai and Leda don’t have to even do that) and he’ll join your party without any complaints!

Halvin

RouteSupport RequirementRenown RequirementSpecial Requirement
Cai35Give her 10 Dates
Leda37Give her 10 Dates
Theodora37Give her 10 Dates
Dietrich39Give her 10 Dates

You might think that Cai having the lowest Renown requirement means that he can get her earliest, but for once that’s not true. Why? Because of her secondary requirement: Halvin asks for 10 Dates before she will join your party. Dates are one of the game’s many vegetables that grow on the map, but they only grow in a select few areas.

So where can we gather Dates? At the desert in the northwestern corner of the continent of course. Plenty of the gathering nodes here give you Dates, in fact some of the nodes only have Dates. If gathering is too much work for you though, you can also stop by the market at Baina Oasis and buy 10 Dates at once here.

This is great for most of the cast. However, Cai is unfortunately unable to go to the desert in his route as the gates never unlock for him. This prevents him from easily grinding for Dates but that doesn’t completely prevent him from getting them.

If you clear the side quest “Huge, Hairy Beasts” as Cai (It’ll automatically clear and give you the reward as him if you already did it in another Route) near the end of the game, you will be rewarded with two Dates. You can then plant these in empty spaces on the world map as him in order to get some more. It’s a much more roundabout method than the others, but it still allows him to recruit Halvin.

As for Halvin’s role as a party member, she actually has one of the best Personal Skills in the game. After attacking an enemy, she will gain a permanent +2 Hit stat for the rest of the map. This stacks repeatedly throughout the map until she has +30 hit. Considering how low accuracy is the name of the game in Fortune’s Weave, this makes Halvin one of the most valuable units in the game.

Io

Cai310Pay him 4,000 Gold
Leda16Pay him 1,500 Gold
Theodora310Pay him 4,000 Gold
Dietrich23Pay him 800 Gold

As you can see, Leda and Dietrich will be able to recruit Io near the beginning of their routes while Cai and Theodora won’t be able to recruit him until the end, far after the point where they’ll have their main parties chosen. This is likely due to Io being a cavalry unit and the devs wanted to prevent players from recruiting too many similar units at once in each route.

Unlike most of the various mercenary-like characters in the game who ask for the same exact same amount of money across each of the game’s routes, Io’s price for joining your party actually varies from protagonist to protagonist. Cai and Theodora will need to pay him the highest amount at 4,000 Gold while Dietrich will only need to pay him 800 Gold for recruitment.

Regardless of the price, recruiting Io is well worth it if you’re in need of a good cavalry unit. Io’s personal skill gives him +3 Shield and +20 Avoid if he is the first to attack in combat, making him a perfect character to charge straight at an enemy for a preemptive attack.

Cai38Pay her 6,000 Gold

Theodora19Pay her 4,000 Gold

Unlike most characters, you won’t be able to even start raising your Support with Inyoni until the 7th month of Part 1. This is done because she goes further in the tournament than most boss characters and must lose before the player can begin recruiting her.

Seemingly because of this, her recruitment is a very simple one as all she needs to join your party is a little bit of money. The amount of money that Inyoni asks for varies depending on the route. She’ll ask Leda for only 3,000 Gold before joining her party while Cai and Dietrich will need to pay her a whopping 6,000 Gold.

Once you’ve paid her, Inyoni will gladly join your party. Her personal skill is a very simple one as it just gives her +3 Strength when she has a bow equipped, which she always will because she’s an Archer.

Jasmine

RouteSupport RequirementRenown RequirementSpecial Requirement
Cai18Pay her 2000 Gold

Theodora38Pay her 5000 Gold
Dietrich39Pay her 5000 Gold

Jasmine’s one of several character who instead of sending the player on a miniature quest to recruit her will instead just ask you to pay her money to join your team. What’s interesting about Jasmine is that the amount of money changes each route seemingly based on how attractive she thinks each protagonist is (At least that’s what it seems like based on the dialogue she has during her boss fight in Leda’s route).

Because of this varying price and the low Renown requirement for her, Leda will be able to recruit Jasmine much earlier and easier than most characters (Almost immediately after the boss fight). Meanwhile Dietrich will need to wait until near the end of his route to get her.

Kiroc

RouteSupport RequirementRenown RequirementSpecial Requirement
Cai38Give him 8 Pure Water

As you can see, Leda and Dietrich will be able to recruit Kiroc almost instantly in their routes while Cai and Theodora will need to wait until near the end of their playthrough before he’ll even consider joining their party.

Of course, like most party members in the game, Kiroc will ask for a small favor before he’ll join your party. Because he’s afraid of ghosts, he’ll need some Pure Water to stave them off before he’ll go to the battlefield again. Oddly enough, despite Leda and Dietrich having a much higher chance of being followed around by vengeful ghosts during their stories, Kiroc actually asks them to give him less Pure Water than the other two protagonists.

As for where you’ll find Pure Water, the answer is much much simpler than other recruitment quests which ask you to bring a specific item to a character. Pure Water can be bought at the item shop in Dagison. Not only can it be bought, but you can actually buy an INFINITE amount of it here so there’s no need to search for multiple shops that sell it.

Once you have give Kiroc the Pure Water that he needs, he’ll instantly join your party. His personal ability is one fitting of a scoundrel as if a foe has a status effect he’ll gain +3 Attack and +10 Crit in order to put them out of their misery.

As for what gifts you should be giving Loretta, she loves fishing. Gift her fishing rods and hooks alongside bringing her to the theater/feeding her meals and you’ll quickly raise her support level high enough to recruit her.

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to just run to the armory and purchase three Iron Swords as they only stock a single one each time the shop refreshes, you’ll have to either wait multiple free times or gather swords from multiple locations. Luckily, you can easily get three Iron Swords in a single free time despite that limitation. Here is how I quickly got the swords.

  1. Purchase 1 Iron Sword from the Armory in Dagison
  2. Trade 10 Linaria for 1 Iron Sword at Vandahl Trading Co. in Dagison
  3. Purchase 1 Iron Sword from the town of Alecto in the southwest corner of the continent

Once you’ve gathered three different Iron Swords, return to Loretta and give them to her so she’ll leave Orchel’s clan and join up with yours. Her unique skill gives her +10 Avoid when her HP is below 50%, making her very great at avoiding attacks like the other members of Orchel’s clan

You’ll need to raise Ludia’s support level between her and your lord to level three before she’ll even consider joining your party. To do this make sure you invite her to feasts, take her to the theater, and give her gifts at every opportunity. Ludia’s favorite gifts are Aromatic Shosh, Eastern Love Story, and Everyday Scenes so if you’ve got any of those give them to her.

Now for the craziest part of recruiting Ludia: her side quest. When trying to recruit her, Ludia will spill the beans about exactly why she is working for the Vandahl Trading Company and ask you to deliver some information to Callianeira Port to prove that she can trust you.

Agree to her request and travel to Callianeira Port on the eastern side of the continent. There isn’t much to this quest outside of the dialogue but it does immediately make Ludia an interesting character. Return to Ludia after completing the quest and she’ll join your party immediately.

As a unit, Ludia as a pretty good unique skill which grants her +3 attack speed during the player’s turn. Not the best skill in the world but a decent one for a front-line fighter.

If you want the Support grinding to go fast, gift him some Arrowhead Gems as they are his favorite gift.

The big barrier between you and recruiting Jester is his special requirement, as he won’t join your party unless you properly smell like a bloodbath. In order to please him, you’ll need to clear three different side quests for him which all involving hunting down groups of bandits.

The gimmick of these quests is that they escalate in difficulty. The first group of bandits will all be level 15, the second group will be level 20, and the final group will be level 25. This scaling difficulty might sound a bit neat at first, but considering how far into your playthrough you need to be to even initiate this quest none of these bandits should be giving you any trouble.

After clearing out the final group of bandits, Jester will not only be satisfied, but frightened of you. Now that he’s properly scared, he’ll join your party without any further fuss.

Jester’s Personal Skill is decent enough but very situational. After using Swap, he’ll gain +3 Defense until the next phase. This makes him pretty good as a frontline unit, but he’s still very much a glass cannon due to his optimal classes being like that.

Once you have gotten enough Renown and reached rank 3 Support with Mikaela, you’ll be able to ask her to join your team. Sadly, she still owes a lot to Dietrich and won’t be joining your party for free. Despite that, her actual asking price to leave one clan and join another isn’t that high.

If you have 3000 gold on hand (There are almost certainly enough side quests in your current chapter to get that much) then you can pay Mikaela to join your party. She is a pretty good axe-user and a nice addition to nearly any party.

Majide

Cai25Wants to be heard
Leda39Wants to be heard
Theodora38Wants to be heard
Dietrich38Wants to be heard

Cai will be able to recruit Majide around his sixth chapter while the other characters will have to wait quite a bit longer to recruit this attention craving gladiator.

As for how you’ll be raising his support level, Majide loves booze, women, fighting, and being strong. The only one of those which we can actually give him is booze so make sure you stop by and see him once a week to give him some Ghosh to raise his support and then stuff his belly full of meals at the inn.

Now that we’ve raised both our renown and our support with Majide high enough for him to hear us out, it’s time to actually do that. This recruitment is deceptively easy as it’s one of few to completely kick you out of the recruitment menu mid-way through the process.

After clicking the recruit button for the first time, Majide will ask if you truly need him on your team. When he asks this, make sure you Admit It. He’ll say he doesn’t believe you and you’ll be kicked out of the recruitment menu, but you haven’t failed. Repeat what you just did and Admit It a second time.

Again, Majide will say that he doesn’t believe you and you’ll be kicked out of the recruitment menu, you still haven’t failed though. Repeat the process one more time, only this time Majide will ask you to say that your truly need him from the bottom of your heart. Make sure you say it and he’ll join your party.

While Majide isn’t the best party member in the game, his personal skill “Hellbent Axe” gives him +3 strength when he has an axe equipped, which is a pretty decent buff in most situations.

LedaStory RecruitmentStory RecruitmentStory Recruitment
Theodora39Deliver 3 Glimrosa to her

Seemingly due to how powerful of a unit she is, Mu can only be recruited far into each character’s route. Recruiting her is always well worth it though as he is almost always able to decimate the battlefield with her fists.

Of course, Mu is also studying on how to become a healer, and her recruitment requirement is tied directly to that as she’ll ask you to find a medicinal herb known as Glimrosa which only grows far, far away from Dagison. The difficulty for finding this herb varies depending on the route as while Dietrich and Theodora will be able to search for it, Cai will need to rely on random world map merchants having it in stock.

For Dietrich and Theodora, make your way to the southwest of the map to reach the Pasithea region that Mars’ Temple is housed in. Here you will find a search area called Rear Mountain Path. Search here and you’ll quickly gain some Glimrosa as it’s a common drop in this area.

Once you’ve gathered three Glimrosa, return to Mu and she’ll immediately join your party. She’s just as strong in other character’s routes as she is in Leda’s so congratulations on being able to charge your way to victory on any battlefield.

Ninae

RouteSupport RequirementRenown RequirementSpecial Requirement
Cai36Bring Ninae 1 Paradise Fish
Leda38Bring Ninae 1 Paradise Fish
Theodora36Bring Ninae 1 Paradise Fish
Dietrich38Bring Ninae 1 Paradise Fish

No character will be able to snatch Ninae away from Orchel’s clan until after the gladiator games preliminary rounds end, but Cai and Theodora will be able to recruit her before the first main match begins.

Ninae will require you to reach Support level 3 between her and you protagonist before she will join their clan. By the time you are able to recruit her you’ll have access to both the Theater and lvl 2 Meals to help speed up that process, but it won’t help to give her some gifts too. Ninae is generally a fan of flowers and paintings so if you have any of those on hand give them to her.

The real tricky part of recruiting Ninae is the item she asks for as payment. Despite saying she doesn’t need payment, she asks for a rare item that you only have a random chance of ever encountering: A Paradise Fish. These fish are a rare material that can be found via searching one specific pond on the map.

So let’s go grab a Paradise Fish. You’ll be able to find these fish in Lake Brontes near the southern edge of the continent. They are a rare material drop and while you may think save scumming until you get one is the play here, sadly that won’t work. I experimented myself and it seems that the game’s RNG pre-loads at least 10 turns worth of searching. You’re just going to have to hope you get lucky on this one.

Once you’ve gotten a Paradise FIsh, make your way back to Ninae in Dagison to finally recruit her into your party. Her personally ability is a useful one which grant her +10 avoid if a foe is using magic against her.

Nezha

RouteSupport RequirementRenown RequirementSpecial Requirement
Cai36Give him 3 Sandworm meat
Leda39Give him 3 Sandworm meat
Theodora36Give him 3 Sandworm meat
Dietrich310Give him 3 Sandworm meat

Cai and Theodora will be able to recruit Nezha relatively early on in their routes while Leda and Dietrich will have to wait until much later in the game before they’ll be able to add him to their ranks.

Everyone needs to get Nezha to Support level three before he’ll join up with you so make sure you take him to feasts, go to the theater with him, and give him gifts every week to raise that support level as soon as possible. His favorite gifts are Strategy Manuscript and Tales of Adventure so give him those for a massive support boost.

The big barrier between you and having Nezha in your party however if his special requirement, as Nezha will ask you to give him 3 pieces of Sandworm Meat before he’ll join your party. This is considered a rare material but only because there aren’t that many areas in the world where you can grind for Sandworm Meat.

As the name implies, Sandworm Meat is an enemy drop obtained from Sandworm enemies. Sandworms primarily spawn inside of caves in the desert in the northwestern part of the continent. They also have a chance to spawn in overworld wild animal pack encounters, but you cannot control what types of enemies you encounter there.

The best location to grind for Sandworm Meat is Adid’s Cave in the middle of the desert, as typically seven Sandworm enemies spawn in this dungeon. That should give you more than enough meat to clear any quest that needs them and to recruit Nezha.

Of course, this advice comes with a small caveat as Cai is unable to go to the desert during his route. This doesn’t mean that he can’t get Sandworm meat, it’s just going to be a much longer grind. Near Dagison, there is a dungeon called the Heretics’ Cave. Cai can go here during his route, but typically only a single Sandworm will spawn here per cycle. So you’re going to have to check back every once in a while if you’re grinding Sandworm meat as Cai.

Once you’ve got the Sandworm meat, return on over to Nezha and you’ll finally be able to recruit him. His Personal Skill gives him a 50% chance of gaining +3 Strength during combat during the player phase, which is a very useful skill for a character running out into the frontline to fight enemies.

Noctula is for all intents and purposes, a free fist-fighting unit for most of the protagonists who can be recruited early on in each route. The only character who can’t recruit her early is Leda, as her route is in no need of a second war monk.

Nuzzo

RouteSupport RequirementRenown RequirementSpecial Requirement
Cai26Give him 3 Iron Bows
Leda39Give him 3 Iron Bows
Theodora16Give him 3 Iron Bows
Dietrich19Give him 2 Iron Bows

While no character can recruit Nuzzo particularly early, Theodora will have the easiest time convincing him to join her side as he’ll only need 1 support level and 6 Renown for her. Dietrich will also have an easier time recruiting him than most characters as his special requirement is lower, although Dietrich will have to wait until he hits 9 Renown.

As for what that special requirement entails, Nuzzo will ask you to give him 3 Iron bows before he’ll consider joining your team (Only 2 if you are Dietrich). Depending on how far you are into the game this task will either be very simple or a bit annoying to accomplish, as the Blacksmith only stocks a limited amount of Iron Bows per chapter.

If you’re looking to recruit Nuzzo within a single Free Time, you can get Iron Bows quickly from the following locations

  • The Blacksmith in Dagison
  • The Vandahl Trading Company
  • Orens (City on the eastern side of the continent)

Once you have obtained three different Iron Bows, give them to Nuzzo and he’ll join your party. His personal ability is a very simple one as it just gives him +3 Attack if he already has advantage against a foe.

Nydine

RouteSupport RequirementRenown RequirementSpecial Requirement
Cai16Bring her 2 Bronze Axes

Theodora35Bring her 2 Bronze Axes
Dietrich25Bring her 2 Bronze Axes

While no one will be able to recruit Nydine super early, three of your protagonists will be able to grab her around the mid-way point of their routes. Leda unfortunately won’t be able to get her until very far into her route.

Cai won’t need to reach any support rank to recruit Nydine, likely due to them both already having a shared love of Ornius riding, but the other characters will need to bond with her a bit in order to bring her onto the team. While the “Likes” part of her character info is a bit vague, you can’t go wrong with gifting her archery items and animal grooming kits.

Once you have reached the appropriate level of Renown and raised your support level with Nydine high enough, you’ll be able to recruit her. Unfortunately, she needs a little bit of payment before she will join your party. It isn’t much though, she just needs you to bring her 2 bronze axes.

Bronze axes can be bought over at the armory in Dagison. They cost 500 Gold a pop so Nydine asking you to bring her two of them is just a fancy way of saying that she costs 1000 Gold to recruit her. Just give her the axes and you’ll have another decent Ornius Rider in your party.

Olympia’s recruitment requirement is classified by the game as a challenging negotiation, but not because of how hard it is. Rather that classification comes from how much time it takes to recruit her as Olympia will send you on three fetch quests to gather specific items for her one after the other.

Luckily, the items she needs aren’t random material drops but rather quest-specific items which will be marked on your map as her recruitment quest begins. The locations of these items will vary slightly depending on which route you’re playing as Cai cannot explore several parts of the continent, thus the items are moved closer to Dagison for him.

Once you have searched each location that Olympia sends you to, return to her and she’ll join your party without any further fuss. She is just as great a healer as she was in Leda’s path and is a great unit to recruit if you’re planning to send Dietrich out to the front lines where he’ll inevitably take some damage.

To quickly raise Peter’s Support Level, make sure you take him to feasts and the theater as well as gift him items like Coffee Pastries to make him like you.

Once you have reached the appropriate Support and Renown Requirement, Peter will give you a short side quest called “Peter’s Request” that you must complete before he’ll join you. This quest will consist of giving Peter an item called the Phantom Ginji. Don’t worry, this isn’t some hunt for a rare vegetable that you haven’t seen before but rather an item that only exists for this quest.

Simply follow the quest marker you’re given to Mount Aegina on the eastern side of the continent and use the search function. There isn’t any RNG here, you’ll be given the Phantom Ginji on your first search. Once the item is in your inventory, return to Peter to clear the quest and recruit him to your party.

Peter’s Personal Ability is an understated yet useful one as he’ll have 1 extra range when equipped with a bow, making him an excellent sniper.

Peppe

Theodora27Clear Bertrand’s Paralogue
Dietrich38Clear Bertrand’s Paralogue

As you can likely tell, the Paralogue requirement here is a bigger deterrent for recruiting Peppe than any other factor like Support or Renown. Bertrand’s Paralogue is available in the tenth chapter of most stories, but is not available at all in Leda’s story due to her route being about trying to kill Bertrand, meaning that Peppe is not available in her story.

The time period where this Paralogue is available is incredibly short. The quest will first become available upon speaking to Gabriel in front of the Arena on 9/17 and the quest will expire on 9/25. The window for completion is even shorter on Dietrich’s route as he can only do this quest on 9/17 and not a day later.

After completing Bertrand’s Paralogue, all you’ll have to do to recruit Peppe is reach his support and Renown requirement, then speak to him. He’ll join your party without any further fuss. His personal skill is an incredible one which will give him a 30% of attacking first during enemy phases, making him an incredible front-line unit.

Cai and Theodora will be able to recruit Seteth around the seventh chapter of their routes while Leda will have to wait until late in her route to obtain him. Dietrich meanwhile cannot recruit him at all for reasons that shall be apparent as you play through his route.

Once you have gotten the appropriate Renown level and raised your Support with Seteth to Lvl 3, he will tell you about how he has made a weapon that has been stolen by bandits. In order to recruit him we’re going to need to hunt down these bandits and bury the weapon with them.

This request, a side quest called Seteth’s Request, has a time limit and must be cleared by 11/27. Considering that the earliest time you can pick up this quest is around the beginning of the sixth month you should have more than enough time to clear it.

The bandits that Seteth wants you to fight can be found on the southern edge of the continent in an area called Mount Ouranos. This skirmish will be against six bandits, with most of them wielding swords. The levels of the bandits will scale depending on the time of the year. If you’re fighting them as early as possible, they’ll be around level 15 or so. If you’ve put off recruiting Seteth for a while, they’ll be a high level.

Regardless of their level, this fight shouldn’t be too hard as there is only a few bandits and none of them will be pulling out any particularly nasty tricks. Just slice through them all and report back to Seteth to finally get this man back into your party.

Sha Lan

Every unit’s recruitment requirements varies depending on your route in order to make sure you don’t rely on the same party for all characters. However, because Sha Lan’s recruitment is a paralogue she’s recruitable at the exact same point in time in each route.

Leda38Clear Anatolia’s Paralogue and Pass her Quiz

Dietrich310Clear Anatolia’s Paralogue and Pass her Quiz

Due to her recruitment being directly tied to a paralogue that half of the lords don’t have access to, only Leda and Dietrich will have a chacne to recruit Sha Lan. Said paralogue will appear in Dagison on 10/5 for both protagonists. Make sure you accept and clear the prologue before 10/17, as it will permanently disappear after that date.

This Paralogue, Queen of the Erased, will see you team up with Anatolia to guide five Kunlun citizens across a room filled to the brim with worm enemies in order to reach the escape point. If three of these citizens die, it’s game over. To clear this map, you must slowly move in order to defend them from the infinitely spawning worms.

In the center of the map is a gigantic hydra-like monster that you will not be able to kill unless you have some extremely over-powered units. This monster will frequently scream to inflict the NPCs you’re guiding with a confuse status effect that you must spend a turn curing. However, you can prevent it from screaming if you kill multiple worms in a single turn.

Once your party reaches the middle of the map, you’ll need to use the teleporter in the center of the room in order to move some of your party members to the left side of the hyrda. You’ll need to do this in order to bait the hydra away from the right side of the room in order to make sure the NPCs aren’t in its attack range for too long. I’d recommend using a unit with high evasion like Mu to do this.

Once all the surviving NPCs have been guided to the exit, all you’ll need to do is place Anatolia herself at the escape point and choose to escape and the paralogue will be cleared. However, that doesn’t mean Sha Lan is ready to join your party just yet.

Before joining your party, Sha Lan will give you a little quiz about the world because she wants to go exploring and is just making sure you’re experienced enough with travel to go along with her. Give her the following answers to satisfy her curiosity.

QuestionAnswer
I’d love to see Alecto someday. Do you know where it’s located?Saramis
The weapons are even named after the town itself. Can you tell me what the town is called?Da Mina
It’s huge, and there are stories of treasure hidden within. What is it?Guess a grounded ship

After successfully answering all of her questions, Sha Lan will finally join your party. After all that work, you’d best believe that she is an incredibly useful healer. Her personal skill allows her to use assist magic after using Draw Back, giving her effectively two actions per turn.

Everyone but Theodora will need to raise Simon’s Support level to 3 before he’ll join your clan. So make sure you give him gifts and bring him to feasts and the theater every week for a few weeks in order to make him like you enough.

Simon has another trick up his sleeve before you recruit him though. He’ll flip a coin and ask you to call it, heads or tails. Every guess will cost you 500 gold but don’t worry, this isn’t up to random chance or even a guess at all once you’ve gotten the answer correct once.

After Simon flips the coin, call Tails and you’ll win the flip. This is true for all four protagonists no matter how many times he flips the coin. It’s a bit of a crafty trick on Simon’s end but at least you won’t need to rely on any RNG outside of combat for once.

With a gamble like that, it shouldn’t come as any surprise that Simon’s personal ability is also based around gambling, as he has a chance of surviving lethal attacks with 1 HP. The chance he survives raises with his luck stat so you’ll need some good level growths in order to consistently trigger it.

Every unit’s recruitment requirements varies depending on your route in order to make sure you don’t rely on the same party for all characters. As you can see, Cai and Dietrich will have a difficult time even getting Sirocco’s attention while a beautiful woman like Theodora will be able to almost immediately convince him to join her party without barely any Renown and without raising his Support level at all.

Of course, even with that boost Theodora will need to put at least a little bit of effort into recruiting SIrocco as he’ll still give her a small side quest to complete before he’ll join your party. Sirocco needs you to find a lost piece of literature called the Monument Verse.

This item can be found by searching Atla Peak, located in the northwest corner of the map by the village of Da Mina. However, if you haven’t been to the area yet don’t try to enter it from Da Mina as the first time you visit the area you must take the long way around, come at it from the direction of Niiza Port to reach it.

Oddly enough, this appears to be one of few quests that Cai cannot complete unless you have done someone else’s route first in order to bypass the gates in the area with a carriage, as most quests move their items to areas Cai can reach but this one strangely doesn’t

After searching once in Atla Peak, the Monument Verse will be added to your inventory. Return to Sirocco and he’ll join your party in an instant. His personal ability to regain 5 HP after combat is just as powerful in your current route as it was in Leda’s route.

While the support and Renown requirements to steal Tialla from Cai’s team are different for all characters, due to her recruitment being directly tied to a paralogue you’ll need to wait until a specific date as all characters to recruit her, so she should be a high priority recruitment character for the first half of each route.

To recruit Tialla, you’ll first need to clear Cai’s Paralogue. You can do so by speaking to Cai after he has lost the tournament. Cai’s Paralogue is available from 10/16-10/22 on each route. However, speaking to him and starting the paralogue will automatically skip time forward to 10/23. So you should accept it on 10/22 specifically so you don’t waste to many turns.

This paralogue’s main gimmick is ensuring that no enemies reach the escape point before you kill the boss. If even a single enemy reaches it, it’s game over. There are two groups of enemies, Centurio’s main squad to your north and a smaller squad in the southeast.

As soon as the the paralogue begins, send Cai and a Pegasus Knight (If you have one) down to the southeast to cut off these enemies. As they will reach the escape point in only 3 turns if you don’t. While Cai and your Pegasus Knight stall them, send half of your party west in order to cut off Centurio’s squad and the other half north to fight Centurio himself.

Centurio is an armored knight, so you’ll need to either send some mages or units with incredibly high attack stat in order to hurt him. Luckily his accuracy isn’t super high so you should be able to avoid a lot of his attacks as you whittle him down. Once he has been defeated, the paralogue will be cleared and Cai will disappear from Dagison for the rest of the route.

Now that we’ve completed the Paralogue, we’ll be able to recruit Tialla. Sadly, savng Cai and his dad isn’t quite enough for her as she wants one extra thing before she joins your party: money. SImply pay her 3,000 Gold and she’ll join your party without any further fuss.

Similar to characters like Peppe, the barrier between you and recruiting Ursula is tied directly to completing an optional, time sensitive, paralogue. Sadly you will be unable to recruit Ursula in Leda’s route as Talimun’s paralogue does not appear during her story.

Talimun’s paralogue will first spawn on 9/17 in Cai’s Route, Dietrich’s Route, and Theodora’s Route. This paralogue can be accepted at any time before 10/12 by speaking to Talimun in Dagison. Talimun will tell you about how some of his deliveries seem to have vanished at Dragdon Pass and he needs your help to check on it.

Go to the location marked on your map and you’ll be brought into a very unique map where there will be three factions: Your party, a group of birds who are carrying Talimun’s stolen cargo, and some thieves trying to steal the cargo. Attacking the birds will cause them to drop the cargo on the ground for you to grab, but the thieves will also attempt to grab it and run away with it.

If the thieves reach the exit, which is where your party spawns, then it’s game over. For the first few turns of this map I would recommend focusing solely of fighting the thieves and making sure they don’t get away. They’re very fast so bring some cavalry units with you that can keep pace or block their movement entirely. If you’re really lucky, the thieves might also get boxed in by the birds and you won’t even need to deal with them running away.

Fire Emblem Ursula 2

Once you’ve either defeated all of the enemies or picked up all of the cargo, the map will end and you’ll have completed Talimun’s paralogue. Assuming that you’ve also taken the time to raise your support level with Ursula, all you’ll have to do now is pass her negotiation and she’ll join your party.

Despite the game ranking the difficulty of this negotiation as medium, it’s actually very easy as you’ll essentially be saying yes ma’am to all of Ursula’s questions.

QuestionAnswer

After the negotiation, Ursula will finally join your party. Her unique skill is one very fitting of a member of the Vandahl Trading Company, as she can access the item storage (which is tied to your lord) from up to two spaces away. Not the most useful skill in the world in a game where weapon durability is a non-issue but nice nonetheless

As for the gifts you should be giving to Yang Jie in order to raise his support level, he is a very simple man with simple tastes. He loves alcohol, tales of old distant journeys, and saving the weak. So prioritize giving him fermented drinks and books when giving him gifts.

Now for his special recruitment requirement, the alcohol quiz. He’ll ask you three questions and if you answer them right he’ll join your party. There isn’t a punishment for failing aside from needing to take the quiz again so you can get through this with good ol’ trial and error, but if you don’t want to do that then just give him the following answers

QuestionAnswer

Once you’ve answered all the question correctly, Yang Jie will join your party. He is an excellent early game unit thanks to his high HP stat growth and his personal skill which will allow him to recover a small amount of that HP whenever he defeats an enemy, making him a good starting tank.

As you can see above, Theodora and Leda can recruit Zarcone quite early in their routes while Cai and Dietrich will need to wait much longer to get him. To raise Zarcone’s support level, give him alcoholic gifts as one of him main likes is drinking with friends (Too bad you’re his only one).

After reaching his Renown and Support requirement, Zarcone will ask you for a gigantic fee of 10,000 Gold to recruit him. Luckily, he is much more desperate to join your party than he claims he is. Refuse to pay him 10,000 Gold and he’ll give you a counter offer of 1,000 Gold.

Still, 1,000 Gold seems like quite the hefty price for someone who lost the Heroic Games in literally the first preliminary match. So what happens if we Refuse to pay him 1,000 Gold? Why he’ll get even more desperate of course and give us another counter-offer to hire him for only 100 Gold!

This is as low as we can haggle him down to, so just Pay 100 Gold and you’ll have gotten a new party member for a price cheaper than the gifts you were giving him for Support points.

Zarcone’s use as a party member sadly isn’t much to write home about. His personal skill gives him +10 hit when wielding an axe, which is next to nothing compared to the crazy skills that most other characters in the game have.

Because Part 2 is all about using the units you recruited in Part 1 and putting them through some of the hardest maps in the game, there are only two units to recruit during Part 2 of the story.

Creek’s recruitment requirement is very unique as he is the only character in the game who requires you to perform specific tasks in multiple parts of the game to recruit him. His recruitment process actually begins in Part 1 but is invisible to the player at the time.

During Chapter 9 of Leda and Dietrich’s routes, Creek can be found in Dagison with a side quest marker over his head. Speak to him and you’ll begin the quest “My Late Sister’s Accessory”. This quest is a very simple one which simply asks the player to travel to a location marked on the map to fight some bandits, then return to Creek with the item they dropped.

This quest will seem to have no reward outside of Renown at first due to Creek not being recruitable during Part 1 of the game, but this will pay off much later during Part 2.

More specifically, during the chapter “Part 2: War Chapter 2”. During this stage, Creek will your enemy fighting for the opposing army. If you have completed this side quest as your current Lord, defeating Creek will have him join your army after the stage.

Now that we have Creek in our party, we can work on recruiting his partner.

Nathan

Once you have recruited Creek, make sure he is in your party during the next chapter’s stage “Part 2: War Chapter 3”, as he is a required step for recruiting his partner Nathan.

Midway through this stage, Nathan will appear from the northern side of the map and begin charging toward your party with the intention of killing them all to defend Arago. Recruiting Nathan is much simpler than you would think, as all you need to do if defeat him with Creek.

Creek MUST land the final blow on Nathan for the red knight to survive. All other characters will kill Nathan if they are the one to defeat him. If someone else beats Nathan, you must use Fortuna’s Blessing to rewind and make sure Creek is the one to do it this time.

After Creek beats Nathan, he will officially join your party once the stage ends. While Nathan and Creek will likely be surpassed in power by your main party by the time they join, it’s always nice to recruit as many people as you possibly can during a single playthrough.

Part 3 Units

Not counting Eshmel and all the units you recruited during Parts 1 and 2, there are 10 Units to be recruited during Part 3 of the game.

Hong Hua

Hong Hua will automatically join your party during the tutorial.

Troy

Troy will automatically join your party during the tutorial.

Anatolia

To recruit Anatolia in Part 3 you must first clear her Paralogue in Part 1 as ANY protagonist

Said paralogue will appear in Dagison on 10/5 for Leda and Dietrich.

If you have cleared Anatolia’s Paralogue in Part 1, she will automatically join your party during the first chapter of Part 3

Bertrand

To recruit Bertrand in Part 3 you must first clear his Paralogue in Part 1 as ANY protagonist

If you have completed Bertand’s Paralogue, he will automatically join your part during the first chapter of Part 3

Orchel

To recruit Orchel in Part 3 you must first clear her Paralogue in Part 1 as ANY protagonist

If you have cleared Orchel’s Paralogue in Part 1, she will automatically join your party during the first chapter of Part 3

Talimun

To recruit Talimun in Part 3 you must first clear his Paralogue in Part 1 as ANY protagonist

Once you’ve either defeated all of the enemies or picked up all of the cargo, the map will end and you’ll have completed Talimun’s Paralogue.

If you have completed Talimun’s Paralogue in Part 1, he will automatically join your party during the first chapter of Part 3

Centurio

During the second section of Part 3 you will receive a sidequest called “Rescue Centurio”. During this quest you’ll need to defeat a few giant enemies at Elissa Pass. This won’t take too long as Eshmel is more than strong enough to handle the foes. After defeating the giants, return to Dagison and Centurio will automatically join your party.

Aswan

Aswan will temporaily join your party alongside Tahonia as guest characters in Part 2, but won’t officially join your party until the Fifth Section of Part 3. The two of them joining in Part 3 is unreleated to any actions taken in Part 2

Tahonia will temporaily join your party alongside Aswan as guest characters in Part 2, but won’t officially join your party until the Fifth Section of Part 3. The two of them joining in Part 3 is unreleated to any actions taken in Part 2

Klapka

The final unit in the game, Klapka, will for reasons beyond my comprehending join your party right before the final boss battle.
