On June 11, 2026, Lasengle and Aniplex announced that Fate/Grand Order would be receiving an update in the middle of June, which will require users to download an additional 16 gigabytes of data.
This update will be a result of the game’s engine being upgraded to Unity 6 in order to reduce the processing power required for various aspects of the game. Currently the game had been running on Unity 2018 since the release of Lostbelt 2 Götterdämmerung in late 2018.
Users who have not currently downloaded Fate/Grand Order will need to download 30 Gigabytes of data to play the game, making this one of the largest updates that the game has received, and raises the question of how large mobile games can be compared to console games.
The full Japanese statement about this update can be read on the News tab on Fate/Grand Order’s website. Currently this update will only be effecting the Japanese version of the game, with the Western version being expected to receive this update at a later date.
While no new content is expected to be released alongside this engine-changing update, it is likely to occur during the 2026 rerun of 2019’s “Sparrow’s Inn Daily Report. Records of the Enma-Tei Prosperity” New Year’s event, which has been retooled as a summer build-up event.
Fate/Grand Order is currently available to download for Android and IOS devices.
