In order to get every ending in Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly’s Remake, the player will need to complete several side quests which only unlock after getting specific other endings. One of those side stories is that of Sae Kurosawa’s, the main antagonist of the game. Although Sae had a brief Side Story that can be done during your first playthrough of the game, she had a second one that unlocks after you get the game’s The Promise ending. If you want to unlock the Sprouting Wings ending but are having different getting this Side Story done, then please feel free to use this walkthrough for the Sae Kurosawa 2 Side Story in the Fatal Frame 2 Crimson Butterfly Remake.
Sae Kurosawa 2 Side Story Walkthrough
In order to begin this Side Story you must perform the following steps
- Get the Promise Ending in a previous playthrough
- Complete Sae’s first Side Story in your current New Game+
- Be in the final chapter of the game
The game lists completing “Sae Kurosawa 3” as a requirement but this is a typo, Sae doesn’t have a third Side Story. You MUST complete Sae’s first Side Story in the same playthrough before the final chapter of the game for this one to spawn as Sae’s first Side Story will not appear during the final chapter. If you are using Chapter Select to quickly get endings, make sure you load into a previous chapter and do that one first.
Once you have fulfilled all of these requirements, make your way to the Kurosawa House’s Main Hall and equip your Exposure Lens. Here you will find a Remnant of Sae and a journal directing you to the Storehouse where Itsuki was being held most of the game.
There will be another Remnant of Sae inside of the storehouse for you to take a picture of as well as a journal directing you to Misono Hill. Here you will find one final Specter of Sae standing at the village gate.
Once Sae’s specter vanishes, you will obtain the final journal of the game as well as Sae’s Sparkling Spirit Stone. This stone charm is one of two items required to obtain the Sprouting Wings ending. The other charm can be obtained by completing Mayu Amakura’s Side Story.
