Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is fantastic at making sure that players aren’t going to lock themselves out of some optional content because they were either too focused on continuing the plot or weren’t thinking about their current party setup. Even the game’s blue magic system is pretty generous as any enemy which has a spell for Monaco to learn can be found in the game’s Endless Tower gauntlet mode. However, there are a few items that can be permanently missed if the player rushes too fast. If you want to truly 100% Expedition 33, then don’t forget to grab the following items!
If you know of any items that we may have missed (ironic considering the subject matter), then please tell us on Discord.
All Missable Items in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
A majority of the missable items in the game are actually found in the game’s prologue, as the player will not be given the chance to revisit Lumiere after leaving on the Expedition. If you want to fully 100% the game, do not leave town without the following items.
Prologue Missable Items
During the prologue there will be a few items which can be obtained when Sophie is briefly In your party. Below is a list of what you should look out for.

- Lumiere Music Track – Defeat a Mime lying in the street before heading to the harbor to get this item, Required for the A Peculiar Encounter trophy
- Crimson Uniform – When Sophie is in your party during the prologue, talk to a man in the street called Richard. After talking to him, you’ll later encounter his son in the harbor who will give you this costume for Gustave
- Old Key – This can be obtained in exchange for one token at the harbor, which is required for the Follow the Trail trophy.
- Trash Can Man – In the prologue there is a trash can that if interacted with enough times, will begin to talk to you. While it will only give you a single Color of Lumina in the prologue, there is an item much later in the game which you can only get if you talked to him here.
Act 1 Missable Items
After the prologue, there are very few missable items in the game, but there is one shopkeeper in Act 1 who will permanently vanish after the first time you speak with him. So make sure you buy everything from Noko as soon as he appears in the plot.
One other item which people have reported as missable is Maelle’s Medalum weapon, which can be obtained by winning the Gestral Village tournament as her. However, you can actually obtain this weapon later in the game by beating Golgra in a duel as Maelle. Because this weapon is such an important part of the one-shot Maelle build, make sure to grab it.
There is however, a missable side quest in the Gestral Village in Act 1. in the far west side of town working on the “Ultimate Sakapatate” who asks for your help.
To help him, you’ll need to get a glowing mushroom from Esquie’s Cave and return it to the village, and then challenge this Ultimate Sakapatate to a duel! Beating him will get you the Pure outfit for Gustave. You cannot complete this quest after clearing the Stone Wave Cliffs dungeon
Act 2 Missable Scene
There is a missable camp scene that can only be viewed after defeating Visages in Act 2, so make sure to always select “Go Check on the Others” at every opportunity in camp.
Act 3 Missable Items and Scene
After obtaining the ability to fly, head to the Floating Cemetery where you will meet a friendly Nevrom called the Chalier for a sidequest. After a simple battle, he will request that you kill him. If you do, you will obtain the “Auto Powerful” Pictos. Refusing to do so will lock you out of this item forever.

There is one more missable trophy in Act III, as if the player refuses to tell Maelle the Truth during her Bond 6 sidequest, they will not grow closer to her and will be required to do another playthrough to obtain the Maelle trophy.
Finally, during the final dungeon of the game you will be able to find and talk to the Trash Can Man you met during the prologue. If you talked to him then, you will be able to recieve of Perfect Chroma Catalyst from him now!
