As you talk more and more with Shadowheart in Baldur’s Gate 3, you will realize that the Mysterious Artefact she holds in her hands is extremely important. Not only to her but to the party as well. Shadowheart will talk a lot about how important it is to keep this Mysterious Artefact safe, but you won’t be sure why for quite a while. Still, it seems that Shadowheart’s Mysterious Artefact just got transported randomly into your inventory in Baldur’s Gate 3 and there was no cutscene about it. Is this a bug or is this meant to happen?
Why Shadowheart’s Mysterious Artefact Got Stuck In Your Inventory in BG3
Here is how you can end up getting Shadowheart’s Mysterious Artefact stuck into your inventory in BG3:
- Shadowheart dies.
- Shadowheart leaves the party.
The most common way you can get Shadowheart’s Mysterious Artefact into your inventory in Baldur’s Gate 3 is to let her leave the party at Camp. If you do this, you will hear a sound, as if something moved from her inventory to yours, and you can now see that you have the Artefact on you.
You can now interact with it and throw it around. If you try to instantly talk to Shadowheart about this, you won’t see any new dialogue option.
She will later in the game start a random conversation with you at Camp about the Mysterious Artefact, saying it is now bound to you. She also mentions that it will likely come back to her if you die.
The reason why Shadowheart’s Mysterious Artefact moved to your inventory in BG3 is that it is a necessary item that your party must have with them at all times. There will be some cutscenes and story events that will require the party to have the item in the inventory, so it will get moved if Shadowheart is away, at Camp.
Don’t worry, this isn’t a bug and you won’t miss out on anything story-wise. It can just be a bit anticlimactic that you just randomly get it without any special dialogue, but you will understand the reason why later in the game.
