One of the beauties of having early access to Valve’s Deadlock is that we can also mess around with the command console and find pretty interesting stuff in the game’s files. The biggest secret some players have found are the unreleased heroes that Valve is currently working on adding into the game. Some of them are closer to being completed, while some only have a weapon in their hand or are completely unplayable. In this guide I will show you how all the unreleased characters in Deadlock look like, their hero name, and how to play them in Hero Sandbox.
How to Play Unreleased Characters in Deadlock
Here is exactly what you need to do to play unreleased heroes:
- Go into Hero Sandbox (select Heroes in the main menu, press one of them, and you’ll see the option).
- Press F7 to open the command console.
- Use the “selecthero hero_name” command, but replace hero_name with the actual name of the unreleased character.
- Press Enter to use the command and F7 to close the console.
For example, if you wanted to change your character to Bebop, you’d use the command “selecthero hero_bebop”.
You can find the full list of hero names by using the command “dump_hero_names”.
List of Unreleased Heroes
If you don’t want to go through the list and try every hero name out, I’ve made a full list of all the unreleased characters below, with their images and hero_name so you can try them out yourself.
Some of them are playable and you can already see their abilities, while some are just models. I’ve also made note of which ones you can use and which ones you can’t.
