After advancing through the bosses a bit, you’ve probably realized that most of them have a gimmick that will usually make the fight a lot harder. The Frost Walker, one of the hardest bosses to beat (due to his extremely high level…), has one of these annoying tricks to beat players. In this guide I will show you how to beat the Frost Walker boss in The First Descendant by understanding its main skill.

How to Beat the Frost Walker in The First Descendant

First of all, I’ll start by saying that matchmaking is key in this fight. Communication will be very important and you won’t be able to win if one of the people in your crew creates problems.

The first problem you will face in this fight is when the boss gets in his enraged state. He’ll be immune to attacks except a few weak points that need to be destroyed to start fighting like normal again.

Your best bet here is to get close and attack the weak points on the knees while someone else aggros the boss. If he starts focusing on you, then just hide and run while the others work on bringing it down.

Flame Mechanic Explained

The Frost Walker has an incredibly powerful AOE attack that will freeze the whole team and likely destroy all of you in seconds. This attack comes when the timer hits around 7:30 to 7:15 and 4:30 to 4:15. When this happens, your only chance to survive is if one of the players picks up 6 flames.

So, each time you destroy one of Frost Walker’s weak points, a flame will pop off from the boss and fall on the ground. DO NOT PICK THIS UP! Make sure nobody does. Once the timer reaches around 7:40, a designated runner should pick up 5 of them and then wait next to the 6th one.

At around 7:32~31, the runner should pick up the 6th flame and all the players should group up around them. The runner will get a buff that will create a “warm” aura around them, protecting the team from being frozen. Otherwise, the attack is undodgeable. If you’re outside of the aura, it’s alright since the runner can come up close to your frozen body and save you.

If your team cannot break at least enough weak points by the time this attack happens, you likely won’t be able to win the fight and need to either change your teammates, or increase your DPS.

Tips to Win

  • Find people in the world chat to help you fight, not randoms. Otherwise, you are likely to restart the fight many times, since many don’t know the mechanics.
  • Aim for the helmet. It gives a few more flames than the other weak points, making it the best target.
