Pyromaniac, the level 66 Intercept boss, is probably one of the worst challenges for new players in The First Descendant. With a huge health bar, it is almost impossible for most to defeat the monster in the allotted time. Even if you use all the right elements and descendants, you can still end up doing too little damage. In this guide we will help you defeat the Pyromaniac Intercept boss in The First Descendant by giving you the tips and builds necessary to win.

How to Beat Pyromaniac in The First Descendant

The battle against this boss will be decided before it even begins. By choosing the right descendant, weapon, and modules, you will make sure that Pyromaniac won’t be a huge problem.

The Right Descendant for the Job

Since Pyromaniac is weak to Chill, the best descendant choice would be Viessa. However, if you didn’t get her from the start, you won’t be able to unlock her until this fight is done. So, you need to choose any hero besides Lepic, Blair, and Esiemo, since they all do Fire damage.

The Best Weapon and Modules

An AR or a Submachine Gun are the best choices. However, your gun won’t be as useful as your abilities.

For modules, make sure to get the Chill Enhancement and Rifling Reinforcement. Make sure to fully level up Rifling Reinforcement, since the Chill damage you do is based on the Firearm Attack.

Strategy to Defeat Pyromaniac

Your main goal for most of the fight will be hitting Pyromaniac’s shoulders. They are relatively easy weak points to hit and will almost always be in sight. Try to keep your distance from him as he will otherwise destroy you if you get the aggro.

Pyromaniac has a really good resistance to bullets, but is weaker to abilities. This means you should spam your descendant’s offensive abilities and only shoot your gun when they’re on cooldown.

There’s also a moment when he’ll become invulnerable. When this happens, just climb on one of the higher platforms and shoot the Fire Amplifier on the back of his head with a long range rifle. A sniper would be great for this part.

As long as your teammates aren’t completely useless, you should be able to beat Pyromaniac easily by just following this simple advice. In the worst case scenario, you can try to beat him solo.

Pyromaniac will be weakened if you only fight by yourself and his HP and damage scale higher the more players are fighting him.
