Captains venturing through the vast expanse in Stellaris might stumble upon an anomaly that’ll scramble their scanners – a colossal egg nestled amongst a seemingly ordinary mountain range. This anomaly, aptly named “Don’t Count Your Planets” (anomaly.6905), presents a thrilling choice: cautiously study the monstrosity from afar or crack it wide open and face the unknown.
This guide will dissect this anomaly and lay out the potential consequences of each choice, so you can make an informed decision!
Don’t Count Your Planets Anomaly in Stellaris
Your trusty science drones scan a mountain range, only to discover it’s actually a giant, pulsating egg! The origin and contents remain a complete enigma, but the implications are enough to send shivers down your spine. Do you dare disturb this potential cosmic nightmare?
The Choices
- Study it from Afar: This safe option grants a boost to your Society research on the planet where the anomaly resides. You’ll walk away with a cool 4 Society deposit.
- Crack it Open!: Feeling adventurous? Cracking the egg promises a potentially greater reward, but comes with significant risk. Here are the two possible outcomes:
- Genetic Omelet: There’s a 90% chance you’ll find a… well, a giant genetic omelet inside. Not exactly appetizing, but surprisingly valuable. You’ll score a hefty deposit of Tier 4 Society Research and an additional 8 Society deposit.
- Gratitude: In this rare 10% chance scenario, curiosity turns deadly. A monstrous creature bursts forth from the egg, obliterating your science ship and claiming the unfortunate scientist within. The creature then vanishes before anyone else can react, leaving behind a meager 6 Society deposit.
A Devouring Bonus:
For players leading a Devouring Swarm, a deliciously pragmatic third option arises: Feast! This bypasses the whole “egg or omelet” debate and instead converts the monstrosity into a much-needed 10 Food deposit. Every scrap counts for a growing swarm, after all!
Crack or Don’t Crack?
The “Study it from Afar” option offers a guaranteed boost to your Society research. However, the potential rewards of cracking the egg, particularly the Tier 4 research bump, are far more tempting for ambitious explorers. Just be prepared for the slim possibility of a nasty surprise.
Devouring Swarms have a clear winner – that free 10 Food deposit is a no-brainer for fueling your ever-growing empire.
