Mount and Blade Warband: How to Increase Battle Size

There is nothing more epic than seeing hundreds of troops clash in Mount and Blade Warband. However, most you will be able to see using the game’s normal settings are 75 vs 75. That is very underwhelming, especially compared to the sequel, Mount and Blade Bannerlord, which can get you into huge battles. Here is how to increase battle size in Mount and Blade Warband to make your battles more interesting!

How to Increase Battle Size in Mount and Blade Warband

As specified earlier, there is an in-game battle size limit and a secret, massive limit you can change yourself. Here is how you can increase battle size in Mount and Blade Warband:

1. Open your “Documents” folder. You can use the search bar to find it.
2. Look for the “Mount&Blade Warband” folder (You can see it in the picture above).
3. Right-click the “rgl_config.txt” file and select Open.
4. Hit Ctrl + F on your keyboard and search for “battle_size”
5. Change the “1” value for battle size with a higher number. Change it to “2.25” for a normal increase.

The normal battle size value (1) results in a limit of 150 troops in the battle. Changing it to 2.25 will result in 300 troops being the limit. We recommend not going over 2.5, as the game will start lagging and the troops won’t fit on the battle map anymore.

If you try to change the battle size in-game from the settings after using this method, the number will reset and you will have to do all this again. If you just wanted to increase the max battle size in Mount and Blade from the settings, here is how you can do that:

If all you want to do is to normally change the battle size, open the Settings and you will see Battle Size on the first page. Drag the slider to the left to lower the limit or to the right to increase it.
