The First Descendant: All Record Locations

Though most won’t expect it, this shooter looter has a lot of collectibles that you will likely find by accident. However, the devs have decided that you’ll need to find some of these if you want to complete the Battle Pass and get some special rewards. So, here are all the record locations in The First Descendant.

All Record Locations in The First Descendant

There are 5 types of records: Descendant, Colossi, Mission Report, Story, and Ancient Ruins. Since it’s easier to find them by their location, that’s how I’ve listed them below.

I’ll also make a few lists here that will lead you to the exact records you might be missing, if you already have a large chunk. The records are numbered using the order you can find them in the game menu.

After unlocking Bunny, talk to Alpha as her.

Descendant 17 (Undelivered Operation Record)

Gained by completing the Abandoned Magister Lab mission from Anais at the end of Bunny’s Descendant Quest.

Descendant 18 (The Last Voice File)

Talk to Anais at the end of Bunny’s Descendant Quest, after completing the Abandoned Magister Lab.

Colossi 7 (First Intercept Battle)

Above Alpha’s HQ you will find a robot called the Descendant Instructor. He appears on the map so you can easily spot him. The Journal is to the right, on one of the blue crates.

Mission Report 6 (HQ Meeting Records)

Head to the HQ where Alpha is and go to the left. There’s a crate shining blue there with the Journal on top of it.

Mission Report 7 (HQ Meeting Records – Alpha’s Story)

In the HQ where Alpha is, jump down (or use the stairs) to the north. You’ll find the Journal on the crates at the end of the platform.

Mission Report 8 (HQ Meeting Records – Nell’s Story)

This one is very easy to find. It’s in the HQ, same as Mission Report 6, right behind Enzo. It’s a Journal and it’s hard to miss.

Story 1 (The Bastion of Humanity)

Go your normal route to Anais but, instead of going inside her building, walk around it. The Arche Echoes are on the edge of the platform, right outside her location.

Story 6 (Soldiers of Albion)

It’s right next to the stairs at the southwestern fast travel point. Impossible to miss.

Story 7 (A Man’s Unrequited Love)

This one’s very easy to spot. It’s right on the bridge going above the southwestern City Entrance fast travel point. Make your way up there and you will see it from a distance.

Story 8 (Deslin’s Grievance)

Go upstairs to the Descendant Instructor. Then walk to the west outside of the building and you will see the Arche Echoes in the distance, as shown in the image below.

Jump on the roof and interact with it.

Ancient Ruins 14 (Memories about the Ironheart 2)

On the southeastern part of the map, on the bridge, just south of Sharen. Only appears there after you’ve finished the whole campaign.

Kingston

Ancient Ruins 1 (Memory of the Apocalypse)

In The Destruction area. Climb into the ruined building and you will see the Echoes hovering in a corner inside.

Descendant 2 (Blair’s Diary)

In the Grand Square. West of the fast travel point, on top of a steel ledge hanging off the building.

Ancient Ruins 4 (Survival Records 1)

In the Grand Square area. There’s a tall building next to the Valgus Data Transmitter mission. Climb it using the grapple and you’ll find the Echoes at the top.

Ancient Ruins 15 (Bard’s Song)

In the Fallen Theater. Use the grappling hook from the fast travel point to climb to the southeast. The Echoes are on the roof up there.

Descendant 10 (Viessa’s Chat Log)

In the Fallen Theater. On top of the roman arch north of the colosseum. The Journal is sitting on a ledge overlooking the colosseum.

The Restricted Zone

Descendant 1 (Bunny’s Excuse)

East of the Defense Garrison Rally Point mission there’s a large metal platform where you’ll fight for The Base’s Power Grid mission. From this higher point, you can see there’s a blue platform floating up and down on the western side of the area.

Jump down there on the platform and then inside the secret area. There you will find a Journal.

Descendant 14 (Emergency Communication Records – Agent Cayden Voltia)

Go south of the High-powered Jammer mission and jump down on the cliffside. A Journal will be waiting for you there. You’ll need to start Bunny’s mission first to see it.

Story 2 (Recon Report: Sterile Land)

Go to the Defense Garrison Rally Point mission and look to the cliff attached to the platform to the southwest. The Echoes are right on top.

Ironworks

Descendant 12 (Esiemo’s Regret)

Walk from the fast travel point to the Logistics Facility mission and then walk to the west under the platform, at the giant drainage pipe. Then, walk to the left and you’ll find a Journal on the ground.

Rockfall

Colossi 3 (Encounter With The Colossus 1)

Go from the fast travel point south to the bridges and you’ll see the Echoes on the edge of a cliff.

Repository

Ancient Ruins 2 (Memory of the Apocalypse 2)

Go to the Kuiper Mine mission beacon and walk into the cave to the right. Go all the way down and then to the left. You’ll see the Echoes on a rock.

Vespers

Descendant 3 (A Recording of Lepic’s Rampage Incident)

Right from the fast travel point, climb to the top of the ruins to the east. There’s a Journal on the stone bridge.

Descendant 15 (Colon Emergency Orders)

On top of the ruins at the location on the map below. Only available once you get “The Traces Continue” mission.

Ancient Ruins 3 (Memory of the Apocalypse 3)

Climb to the top of the ruins in the southwestern corner of the map.

Moonlight Lake

Descendant 8 (Enzo’s Resolve)

Walk up to the location shown on the map below, next to the stones.

Lost Supply Depot

Mission Report 5 (Guide Observation Notes 2)

There’s a wooden watchtower to the north of the fast travel point. Climb on top of it to find a Journal.

Ancient Ruins 5 (Survival Records 2)

Climb up to the southeastern part of the map and go to the corner.

Timberfall

Ancient Ruins 16 (Musings of a Scholar)

Climb the giant fallen log on the southern side of the map.

Echo Swamp

Descendant 4 (Gley’s Regret)

Under the large pipe going overhead in the western part of the area, in the right dark corner, you’ll find a Journal.

Ancient Ruins 8 (The Day the Descendants Were Born 1)

Southeast of the fast travel point, just a few steps to the north from the mission there.

Muskeg Swamp

Descendant 9 (Jayber’s Demands)

Walk west from the fast travel point and you’ll find a steel structure. Go under it and you’ll find a cave to the left. Walk to the end and you’ll find a Journal.

Ancient Ruins 17 (A Mythical Tale)

Walk south of the fast travel point and you’ll see Echoes on top of a rock.

Derelict Covert

Descendant 16 (Incomplete Chat Log)

On top of the treehouse in the northern part of the map. Just a few feet to the southwest of the Ghost Marsh mission.

You can only get this Journal during Bunny’s quest.

Colossi 4 (Encounter With The Colossus 2)

Climb inside the large sewer in the eastern part of the map full of wooden structures. Once you reach the highest wooden bridge, you will see the Echoes further inside.

Just climb up the side of the cliff to reach the location shown on the map below.

Colossi 6 (The Day the Colossus Fell)

Right above the mission shown in the image below.

The Storage

Descendant 11 (Freyna’s Pet)

There are four structures connected to the big one in the middle of the map. Climb inside from the south into the one to the northwest and you’ll find a journal on the ground up there.

Ancient Ruins 12 (Alpha’s Past)

Approach the large structure in the middle of the map from the fast travel point. The Echoes will be at the bottom of it, to the right.

Miragestone

Story 3 (About the Red Sphere)

South of the fast travel point, on the edge of the cliff.

The Mining Site

Ancient Ruins 11 (Battle with Karel)

In the northern part of the map there are two metal platforms coming out of the mountain. Climb to the top on the highest platform and walk up to the edge facing the area. That’s where you’ll find the Echoes.

White-night Gulch

Colossi 5 (Encounter With The Colossus 3)

In The Mountaintops. Off the side of the cliff.

Story 4 (Recon Records 1)

In the Observatory. Go to the northmost point of the map, where you’ll find a cave. Jump down to the door there and you’ll find a Journal sitting at the edge of the cliff, leading to the darkness below.

Ancient Ruins 9 (The Day the Descendants Were Born 2)

In the Hatchery. Go from The Mountaintops to the Hatchery and you will spawn in a location on an isolated cliff. Walk to the right and you will find Echoes on the side of the mountain.

Ancient Ruins 18 (A Historical Record of the White-night Gulch)

In the southern side of the Moongrave Basin. Just on top of a rock at the shown location.

Hagios

Ancient Ruins 6 (Records of the Magisters 1)

In Forward Base. Walk from the fast travel point to the passage toward Fractured Monolith. Climb the houses there and reach the peak, where you’ll find the Echoes.

Descendant 6 (Valby’s Training Day)

In Forward Base. In the location shown below there’s a little cube house with a fallen wall. Walk inside and the Journal will be on the ground.

Ancient Ruins 10 (The Day the Descendants Were Born 3)

In Dune Base, to the west of the fast travel point. There’s a rocky path off the edge of the cliff that you can run on, with Echoes waiting at the end.

Ancient Ruins 19 (Memoir of Meeting the Magisters)

In Starfall Road. Run from the fast travel point to the east straight. The Echoes will appear in the distance and you’ll easily spot it.

Fortress

Descendant 7 (A Day in the Life of Kyle)

In the Defense Line. Run to the location shown on the map below. Enter the building through the hole and jump on the large crate there. That’s where you’ll find the Journal.

Story 5 (Recon Records 2)

In the Frozen Valley. There’s a steel structure with a lot of columns holding it up to the east of most of the missions. On the ground there you’ll find the Journal.

Ancient Ruins 7 (Records of the Magisters 2)

In The Aurora Forest. At the location shown on the map below there’s a large tower. There are four platforms on its sides that you can climb using a grappling hook. The Echoes are situated on the eastern platform.

Ancient Ruins 13 (Memories about the Ironheart 1)

In Fallen Ark. Go to the location shown on the map below. You’ll find some steel platforms. Jump down on the side of the mountain and the Echoes will be hidden right next to the wall.

Ancient Ruins 20 (Memories of a Terrified Hunter)

In the Fallen Ark. Right from the fast travel point, grapple your way up the mountain to the southwest and you’ll find the Echoes overlooking the Ark.
