The Blood of the Dawnwalker is a game which encourages the player to explore the world at their leisure, carefully choose which quests you’re going to complete, and make use of your little time in this world however you wish. With that type of gameplay premise, it should come as no surprise that the game has multiple endings tied to the completion of certain questlines and characters that the player may encounter during their playthrough. If you are curious about the game’s endings and how to unlock them, here is a guide on how to get all endings in The Blood of the Dawnwalker.

All Ending in The Blood of the Dawnwalker

There are seven different endings in The Blood of the Dawnwalker. Five of them involve defeating Brencis and saving your family in different ways while the other two go down wildly different paths entirely. Each ending has an achievement tied to it, so if you want to 100% the game make sure to keep a second save before you begin any ending mission.

Once an ending mission has begun, all other quests in the game will instantly expire. You will not be able to continue playing after the ending, so do everything you want to before before you consider storming Brencis’ castle. Below is a list of each of the game’s endings.

The Folk Hero (Defeat Brencis Alone)

This ending is the most simple. All you will need to do is fight Brencis and save your family without the assitance of any other character. To do this, you must first find a way into Brencis’ Castle. I reccomend doing the [quest name] quest as it will not only tell you about the side entrance, but will also reward you with some cool armor.

It is recommended also that you defeat Brencis’ court before storming the castle as it’ll make this final sequence much less hellish if you’re going at it alone. Also, please note that this just refers to doing the final Brencis fight alone. Receiving help entering his castle or sparring Xanthe for her assistance don’t effect this ending.

After you’ve fought your way to the entire castle and reach The Pit, you’ll have your final boss encounter against Brencis. This fight is one of the most difficult ones in the game, fitting for a final boss, but if you survive through it and defeat Brencis you’ll successfully reach the ending and credits will roll.

After the credits there will be an epilogue where you will see the consequences of most of the decisions you made throughout the game. This epilogue will occur for all endings where you confront Brencis, it will not occur during the two where you don’t.

The Knyazmaker (Crake Ending)

This ending can be obtained if you have completed Crake’s questline, one which spans nearly the entire game and has nearly a dozen quests. To begin this questline, investigate Vlad’s burned home in Laslea after the prologue to being the “The Firebrand Quest”. Once you have completed this quest and speak with Miller in his jail cell, you’ll unlock another called “Shadow in the Woods” which will introduce you to Crake and the Manumits.

In order to join the Manumits, you’ll need to increase your infamy to the point of being infamous. This will take a while, roughly a third of the game, but it’s also something that should come naturally as you complete other quests and take down Brencis’ court. Head to Svartrau City once you’re infamous and you’ll be escorted to Crake’s base to join the Manumits.

Once you’ve joined their group, the following quests will occur one after the other, complete them all to earn your way into having Crake storm the castle with you

  • Where Loyalty Lies
  • What Hunts the Night
  • What Moves the Dead
  • Who Pulls the Strings
  • Home Sweet Home

Once you have completed this quest chain, return to Crake’s hideout and he’ll tell you that Catlain and his troops will be coming in a few days and you’ll storm the castle together then, starting the quest “Rise at Dawn”. Two days after the quest beings, you’ll be able to meet up with Crake at his hideout again to begin the final mission. Because this is happening at Dawn, the following gameplay sequences will be done with Coen’s human form, so prepare some very strong weapons and armor before you begin.

The mission will begin with you, Crake, and his men storming a series of gates near Vale Sangora’s border in order to let Catlain and his men into the province. This is an incredibly difficult sequence as the guards here are stronger than most others in the game, so prepare for a tough battle.

Once you’ve let Catlain into the country, you’ll get a glimpse of how he is probably just as bad as Brencis but at least he isn’t holding your family hostage. The next few cutscenes will show the Manumits storming Brencis’ castle, but you and Crake will split off from the main group to go in through a side entrance.

From here, you’ll be following a near identical path through the castle as the one you did when storming it alone. If Brencis’ Court has been defeated, you’ll have a much easier time. The ending won’t diverge again until you reach The Pit for your confrontation with Brencis.

While here, make sure you choose to save Catlain, if you don’t then you won’t be fighting Brencis alongside Crake anymore. Defeat Brencis here and you’ll get another ending and epilogue.

The Patricide (Lacra Ending)

Lacra also has an ending tied to her questline, and unlike Crake’s there is a chance that you’ve gone through a large portion of the game without knowing that she exists. If you haven’t met Lacra, several quests in Svatrau City will point you in her direction. I’d recommend learning about her via the “A Study in Crimson” quest as it’s entirely within the city so you won’t need to travel far.

After finding Lacra’s home, you’ll go on a straightforward questline where you’ll need to tackle the following quests

  • Song of the Mountain
  • Hide and Seek
  • Our Rotten Roots

Once all three quests have been completed, you’ll be able to storm the castle with Lacra at any time. Because she is a vampire like you, you will only be able to storm it at night (A complete contrast from Crake’s ending). The storming of the castle sequence in this ending is also quite different from the other endings.

Instead of going in through the front door or even a side entrance, Coen and Lacra will infiltrate the castle via some underground ruins which lead directly to The Pit. So instead of making your way to the pit, you’ll be starting there and fighting your way up the castle until you confront Brencis in his throne room.

Don’t take Brencis up on his offer to betray Lacra then fight and defeat him in order to reach this ending.

The Turncoat (Brencis Ending)

This ending is the game’s evilest and naturally requires making Brencis respect you enough that he offers you a deal for your life. If you kill all three members of Brencis’ court, he’ll extend an invitation to meet you over at Shrike’s Crag. During your conversation with Brencis, don’t pick any dialogue options that would start a fight and instead hear him out.

Brencis will offer to spare Coen, his family, and his entire village from the Blood Tax in exchange for Coen telling Brencis the location of Crake and his group of rebels. He’ll then give Coen a vial of blood that you will use to mark the door of Crake’s hideout.

You may think that this will be a clean and simple conversation, unfortunately, due to a mistake, several wraiths will appear and attack both you and Brencis. This will lead to a battle sequence where you and Brencis must fight no less than 25 wraiths and 10 undead soldiers together. Oh, and you do technically have the option to opt out of this ending and fight Brencis here, but if you think you can take both him and the wraiths at once then you’re either very brave or very dumb.

The deal will be off the table after Brencis’ Corronation, so make sure you head over to Crake’s hideout in [City Name] as soon as you can. Mark the door, and Brencis will appear and kill everyone but Coen, leading to the credits and a particularly grim epilogue

A Hero They Deserve (Escape Vale Sangora Ending)

Tired of playing the game? Don’t actually love your family? Too scared of the big mean vampire man to fight him? Then why not just leave!

If you go to the western edge of the map, in the Briar Sloughs region, you’ll find a shrine called Coward’s Path. Follow the path that this shrine leads to and you’ll reach a large chasm with a broken bridge. If you max out your Shadow Step perk (Which requires lvl 11 corruption), you can cross this bridge!

Continue following the path and you will be prompted with the choice to leave or not. Leave and the credits will roll, earning you the A Hero They Deserve achievement for doing nothing to save the world.

Together Forever (Dream Ending)

If you investigate the Aurelia’s Tower area in the southwest of the map after starting Crake’s questline, you’ll be kidnapped and transported into a new quest titled Home, Sweet Home. During this quest, Coen will be put in an eternally looping dream where he can be happy together with his family.

Under normal circumstances, you would escape this dream via investigating the demonic well that speaks to you from the second loop onward. However, if you distrust your own voice you can instead continue looping through the dream over and over again.

If you play through FIVE loops of the dream, a new ending will begin to play where Coen can imagine being happy together forever with his family while his body is likely being experimented and dissected back in reality. This is in the running for the darkest ending in the game.

The Folk Hero (Prologue Version)

Remember how during the prologue you have a brief fight against Brencis where he defeated you in two attacks? Well if you’re good enough you can fight and beat both of his boss fight phases during this tutorial! Do you get anything for doing that? Not really, the ending is identical to that of the normal The Folk Hero one and your post-credits epilogue will be very very very short as you haven’t really played the game now, have you?
