Enemies do a lot of damage in The Adventures of Elliot, which is why it’s so important that the player takes the time to raise their maximum health whenever they can. To do this, you’ll first need to collect four Shards of Life. These shards are Elliot’s version of Heart Containers from the Zelda franchise and are just as fun to collect throughout your adventure. However, keeping track of where you’ve picked one up and where you haven’t can be quite difficult. Especially so in this game due to the time travel aspect placing chests in the same locations in all time periods. If yoh are looking to quickly maximize your health in The Adventures of Elliot, please feel free to consult this guide detailing the locations of all Shards of Life in the game.
All Shard of Life Locations in The Adventures of Elliot
Due to how The Adventures of Elliot is structured, with the player traveling through the same world and locations in different time periods, I have decided that the easiest way to structure this guide would be to separate it by time period. If you notice my health jumping around, that is due to backtracking to a previous time period after I have already explored another.
Age of Safekeeping Shards of Life
Shard of Life 1
You’ll be able to grab this shard of life right near the star of the game. It is located in a shrine to the soutwest of [town name]. In order to get it, you’ll need to complete a shrine where you’ll need to reach the end of a room as arrows shoot at you. Avoid these arrows either by moving to the horizontally when they approach or using your shield.
Shard of Life 2
This shard of life is located in a treasure chest on a ledge above the Unexplored Ruins in Western Hucarea.
Shard of Life 3
You’ll find the next shard of life in a treasure chest on sublevel two of the Mist Ruins
Shard of Life 4
In order to get this Shard of Life you’ll need to go through the Southern Caves in Eddartrayl to reach the treasure chest it’s located in.
Shard of Life 5
After obtaining the bombs from the Age of Reconstruction, make your way to this part of Eastern Hucarea and you’ll find a cracked wall you can bomb. Pass through the Secret Shortcut <1> area within it and you’ll reach a treasure chest with a Shard of Life.
Shard of Life 6
Once you’ve returned to the Age of Safekeeping from the Age of Reconstruction, make your way to the Forest Ruins in Neverwither. There is a single chest in the ruins and it contains a shard of life.
Shard of Life 7
Make your way through a series of enemy filled caves in Westerea and you’ll reach a ledge containing a treasure chest with a shard of life.
Shard of Life 8
There’s another treasure chest in Westerea containing a Shard of Life, this one is much easier to reach as it’s simply placed along the main path.
Shard of Life 9
You’ll find this shard of life in a shrine on a ledge on Westerea. Hard to miss this one.
Shard of Life 10
In Eddartayl there is an optional ruin called the Geared Ruins. You won’t be able to get past the first room until you have sprint magic, but if you can make it to the end of the ruins you’ll be rewarded with a Shard of Life.
Shard of Life 11
This Shard of Life is located in a shrine that can be reached via a cave in Westerea.
Shard of Life 12
You’ll find the next shard of life in a chest just outside of Secret Shortcut <3> in Whiterea.
Shard of Life 13
Secret Shortcut <3> will also lead you to a shrine with a Shard of Life in it. This shrine is a block-pushing puzzle so prepare for pain.
Shard of Life 14
After you traverse through the Eastern Caves in the Age of Reconstruction, you’ll also be able to go through them in the Age of Safekeeping to reach the other side of Neverwither. There will be a Shrine of Life waiting for you here.
Shard of Life 15
After getting the key to the Western Caves in the Age of Magic, traverse through them to reach Garretbelt in the Age of Safekeeping. You’ll find a life shrine near Mount Phoenix.
Shard of Life 16
After learning how to dive from the Water Ruins in the Age of Reconstruction, you’ll be able to reach the Fall Caves inside of the waterfall near the top left of the map. Traversing through this area in the Age of Safekeeping will reward you with a Shard of life.
Age of Reconstruction Shards of Life
Shard of Life 1
The first shard of life we’ll find in this era can be collected as soon as we have the bombs. Once you’ve got this weapon, exit Littlehope Village to the north and bomb the cracked wall to enter the Secret Shortcut <2>. Go through this cave and reach the exit where you’ll end up by the entrance to another Shrine of Life. This shrine will reward you if you can defeat all the enemies with it, so make sure to bring potions.
Shard of Life 2
Next, we’re going to bomb some rocks blocking a ladder near the north exit of Littlehope Village to collect this Shard of Life
Shard of Life 3
You’ll find this Shard of Life in a chest in the Northern Caves that you need to pass through in the ice area to the north.
Shard of Life 4
The next Shard of Life can be found in a treasure chest on sublevel one of the Northern Tower.
Shard of Life 5
This shard is basically unmissable as it’s in a chest right along the path you need to travel in Westerea
Shard of Life 6
You’ll find this shard in a chest atop a hill full of enemies on Eddartayl.
Shard of Life 7
In the bottom left corner of Eddartayl you’ll be able to jump over to and bomb a wall that will reveal Secret Shortcut <4>. Pass through this cave and you’ll read another Shrine of Life. This Shrine’s trial will have you fight two Great Bow Guardians, a pretty easy fight. Defeat them to earn your reward.
Shard of Life 8
After getting the hammer, return to the Southen Caves and slam down the block of wood to reach this treasure chest for another shard of life.
Shard of Life 9
This Shard of Life is located in a shrine along a ledge in Western Hucarea. This shrine’s challenge will require you to platform across moving blocks to get the shard.
Shard of Life 10
You’ll be able to find another shrine of life by going through Secret Shortcut <3> in Whiterea. This shrine’s challenge is a platforming one.
Shard of Life 11
This next shard of life is located in a shrine in Neverwither, but in order to reach it you’ll first need to dive into the water in Westerea can swim toward it.
Shard of Life 12
Once you’ve gotten the key to the Eastern Caves, make your way to the eastern side of Neverwither where you’ll find this Shard of Life in a treasure chest.
Shard of Life 13
If you enter and reach the end of the Grandtree in the Age of Reconstruction, you’ll be rewarded with a Shard of Life.
Shard of Life 14
Once you’ve learned the warp spell, you’ll be able to progress through the Dragonspillar ruins in the Age of Reconstruction. Getting to the end of these ruins will reward you with a Shard of Life.
Shard of Life 15
This Shard of Life can be found within a treasure chest in the Doorway Ruins. Use the warp spell to reach the ledge it’s placed on.
Shard of Life 16
After traversing through the Western Caves in the Age of Magic, make your way through them again in the Age of Reconstruction to reach this life shrine in Garretbelt.
Shard of Life 17
There’s an island you can swim to from the Fields of Flon that contains a treasure chest with a Shard of Life.
Shard of Life 18
Once you’ve obtained the dive ability from the Water Ruins, you’ll be able to swim toward the small island where this Shard of Life is waiting for you.
Age of Magic Shards of Life
Shard of Life 1
Like in the other ages, head through Secret Shortcut <3> in order to reach a ledge containing a treasure chest which houses a Shard of Life.
Shard of Life 2
This Shard of Life is inside of a treasure chest in Eastern Hucarea in the Age of Magic.
Shard of Life 3
Just like you did in the other time periods, bomb the wall in Eastern Hucarea in order to reach Secret Shortcut <1>. Exit it via the north to reach a ledge where a shrine will be waiting for you.

Near the bottom of the map in Eddartayl you’ll find another life shrine.
Shrine of Life 5
Another Eddartayl life shrine can be found on a ledge that you can reach via passing through Secret Shortcut <5>
Shard of Life 6
While we’re knocking out the shrines in this age, let’s head on over to Westerea and hammer our eay into the way in the swamp.
Shard of Life 7
Nearby, you’ll find the Age of Magic version of the Rainbow Lotus dungeon. Reach the end of it to earn another Shard of Life.
Shard of Life 8
After getting the key to the Western Caves you’ll be able to reach Garretbelt. Pass through Monster Trail <5> in this area to reach a treasure chest containing a Shard of Life.
Shard of Life 9
Traverse through the Fire Ruins during the Age of Magic and you’ll be rewarded with a Shard of Life at the end.
Shard of Life 10
Near the bottom of Garretbelt you’l be able to reach another life shrine by traversing through Secret Shortcut <4> and then using Faie’s teleport spell to teleport onto the ledge where this shrine is located.
Shard of Life 11
Once you’ve learned how to dive, make your way to the Water Ruins in the Age of Magic. Get to the end of them and you’ll be rewarded with a Shard of Life.
Shard of Life 12
While we’re cleaning up the shards we can get now that we can dive, let’s head on over to Whiterea, dive under the log in order to reach Monster Trail <4>, and then go through it to get to this life shrine.
Shard of Life 13
Once you have the Hurricane spell, you’ll be able to get through the very short Ice Ruins and gain one more Shard of Life.
Age of Budding Shards of Life
Shard of Life 1
Just like in the Age of Reconstruction, you’ll be able to find a treasure chest containing a Shard of Life on the island near the Water Ruins.
Shard of Life 2
Make your way through Monster Trail <3> in Westerea and you’ll find another shrine of life.
Shard of Life 3
There’ll be another shrine where the first dungeon was during the Age of Safekeeping
Shard of Life 4
Enter the Desert Caves in the Age of Budding and you’ll almost instantly find a treasure chest containing a Shard of Life.
Shard of Life 5
While we’re in Eddartayl, let’s pass through the southern caves in order to reach this shrine, which is in the exact same location that contained a treasure chest with a Shard of Life back in the Age of Safekeeping.
Shard of Life 6
Speaking of locations where shrines and chests have switched locations between ages, exit the Southern Caves via their north exit to reach this chest containing a Shard of Life.
Shard of Life 7
Travel to Garretbelt and pass through Secret Shortcut <7> to reach the ledge containing this treasure chest for another Shard of Life.
Shard of Life 8
While we’re in Garretbelt, travel on through Monster Trail <5> to reach another shrine. This is one of the hardest shrines in the game as it’s a dark cave filled with enemies.
Shard of Life 9
Traverse through Mount Phoenix while in the Age of Budding and you’ll be rewarded with a treasure chest containing a Shard of Life.
Shard of Life 10
Jump off of the bridge pictured above in the east side of Neverwither and you’ll land in the river, allowing you to reach Monster Trail <6>. Get through this cave and you’ll reach a shrine of life.
Shard of Life 11
Teleport onto this ledge in Whiterea for a quick Shard of Life.
Shard of Life 12
In the lake in the center of the map you’ll be able to swim to a ledge where you’ll be in perfect position to use the teleport spell and reach this shrine.
Shard of Life 13
When exploring the Dragonpillar Dungeon, you’ll have just barely enough room to teleport onto this ledge to obtain a Shard of Life.
