As the player progresses through The Adventures of Elliot, they’ll slowly obtain new items and learn new types of magic that will allow them to explore new parts of the world and open treasure chests. However, there is on skill that may elude you for most of your playthrough if you don’t explore thoroughly: Diving underwater. Any time you swim by a log in the overworld, Faie will chime in to say that you could get past it if you dive, but you’ll never be required to learn the skill and can even get one of the game’s endings without it! So how do we learn this skill? Well if you’re asking that question, then please consult this guide on how to dive underwater in The Adventures of Elliot!
How to Dive Underwater in The Adventures of Elliot

In order to dive underwater, Elliot will first need to obtain the Diving Manual key item. This item is found in a place that is both obvious yet unexpected: The Water Ruins. If you’ve never visited this dungeon before, it’s located on the island in the center of the large lake in the middle of the world map.

Unfortunately, attempting to explore The Water Ruins in most time periods will lead the player to an almost immediate dead end as you need to be able to dive in order to progress through the dungeon.
There is one exception to this rule: The Age of Reconstruction. Visiting the Water Ruins during this age will allow us to raise and lower the water levels enough that we can make it through most of the dungeon without needing to dive underwater. Halfway through the area, you’ll encounter the Frauki Capo boss. Defeat him, and you’ll be able to enter the room with the chest containing the Dive Manual.

Once you have the Dive Manual, you’ll be able to dive underwater anytime you are swimming by holding down the triangle button. This will let you traverse several new areas of the world and also let you complete the Water Ruins in all times periods.
