The Flying Fortress is the first dungeon players will encounter in Secrets of Grindea, as they will be ambushed by it while completing The Ancient Temple quest. After placing the Teleportation Plate in front of the temple, players will enter the mighty structure and activate a computer that will initiate the whole dungeon. Though you can leave the place at any time using the Teleportation Plate, it would be good to know how to solve some of the harder parts of the dungeons, such as the secret 4-digit code or the complicated Phase Reflection puzzle. In this walkthrough we will show you how to complete the Flying Fortress dungeon in Secrets of Grindea, passing through all possible obstacles and challenges.
Flying Fortress Walkthrough for Secrets of Grindea
Players will discover the Flying Fortress during The Ancient Temple quest, their first ever mission as an official Collector. After passing the Ghost Hunt quest and getting out of the Pumpkin Woods, you will find The Ancient Temple, where you’ll place the Teleportation Plate.
After that, Bag will push the Collector to enter the Ancient Temple, resulting in the player activating a computer in a northern room.
Going back down to the south will reveal that the temple has turned into the Flying Fortress dungeon, with the golems there attacking the Collector. Now, after defeating them, you’ll have to decide whether to go to the left or to the right.
Considering there are two other computers you’ll need to activate, both options are right. You can also go to the south, outside, where you placed the Teleportation Plate, allowing you to leave the Flying Fortress.
The most powerful boss of the dungeon will be level 10, with most of the normal mobs being level 8. If you don’t feel ready, use the plate outside the fortress to fast travel back on the continent to train a bit.
Perfect Guard Trial and Phaseman Boss Fight
There is no way to go to the western part of the Flying Fortress, which means you’ll have to go to the right. Walk straight, defeat the Brawler Bots, and enter the new part of the temple. There’s no way to reach the chest or use the arrows on the ground yet.
Follow the only available path until you reach a room with a door with a monster on it. Here, you’ll need to go in the lower right part of the room and stand on the blueish-green platform. The machine to the right will start shooting at the player and they will need to perform a Perfect Guard.
To perform a Perfect Guard, you’ll need to block using the shield at the right time, as close to getting hit by the machine as possible. The missile will shoot back at the machine, opening the boss battle door.
Head north and prepare to fight the Phaseman, a low-leveled mini boss that players above level 10 should easily defeat. The main strategy of the boss is that it will shoot a lot of laser orbs all over the stage that are relatively hard to dodge.
The best way to avoid the attacks is to stay as far away as possible from it. Ranged attacks using a bow should be more than enough to win, but the magic summons will also easily win you the fight.
After defeating Phaseman, the player will be able to use the stone arrows on the ground to Phase into locations that were unreachable until now.
Use the arrow on the ground to the left to phase onward and activate the second computer for the final door in the Flying Fortress.
Western Temple
Head back the way you came and open the chest you saw before using the Phase ability to get a special painting of the Flying Fortress.
Go inside the middle hallway and then outside to the west. Phase down and win three rounds of fighting to continue advancing to the third part of the temple.
Inside this part of the temple you will have, again, a choice between going to the left and to the right. To complete this part and reach the computer, you’ll need two keys. Go to the left and defeat the enemies there to see the first key above.
To the west you’ll find a little projectile course where you’ll have to advance to the north while avoiding the red orbs coming down. Unfortunately, there’s no pattern here so you’ll have to use your platforming skills here or Blink defensive skill to teleport past them.
Luckily, most of the time you’ll have the space of 2 red orbs missing to pass through, allowing you to quickly reach the northwestern area of the map. Here, players will find a green crystal they need to break to uncover a Phase arrow on the ground.
Walk following the only path available and pick up the key on the balcony at the end. Jump down and continue to the east.
How to Solve the Phase Reflection Puzzle
In the eastern part of the western Ancient Temple, players will bump into a confusing puzzle where they need to move around mirrors and Phase into them to reach a chest in the right part of the room.
So, to help you solve this puzzle, we’ll give numbers to the mirrors. The one to the north, separated from the rest is 1, the one on the right is 2, and the one on the left is 3.

Move number 1 to the right, two spaces. Move mirror 2 to the right one square, down, and to the left, to reach the square right below where it started. Now, move number 3 up and then all the way to the end to the right.

Now, move mirror 3 down. Go to mirror 2 to the left of it and push it up and two squares to the left, right under the Phase stone above. Now, move mirror 3 up one slot and one to the left, right under mirror number 1.

You can see the exact way the puzzle should look at the end in the image above. Go to the Phase stone to the left and use it to reach the blue chest and get the second key.
Use the key to open the door in the room, advance, loot all the chests, and unlock the second door to the north to reach The Sentry, the second mini-boss of the Flying Fortress. The battle will be relatively easy, since it is just one of the normal Guardian mobs with a shield around it.
Head down southwest and activate the third and final computer, opening the door to complete The Ancient Temple quest.
Secret Door Code
Inside the room where you’ve just defeated The Sentry, there’s a locked door with a keypad that Bag will tell you not to brute force. The reason it tells you this is because you haven’t discovered the code yet.
However, later in the game, after completing the Flying Fortress a relatively long time ago, an NPC will tell you the code for the door, allowing you to come back and attempt to open it.
Spoilers: The NPC that will give you the code is Professor Pine, the one writing all the logs on the Flying Fortress, who you will find in the Ghost Ship.
The code for the secret door in the Flying Fortress is 4113.
GUN-D4M Boss Fight
Go back to the main chamber and enter the final boss room of the Flying Fortress. Here, you’ll have to face the powerful GUN-D4M, wielded by an Ancient Amulet. The general fight is relatively straightforward.
First, you’ll need to fight the Giant Hands that keep trying to hit you. Once they reach 0 health, they’ll fall flat on the ground, allowing the player to Phase next to the head of the GUN-D4M, where they can actually damage the machine.
After a couple of seconds, the boss will recover, pushing down the player and damaging them. You can jump down before that happens.
Then, players will repeat the process until the GUN-D4M loses all health and starts throwing orbs and attacks in all directions as a final attempt to take out the player. At this point you just need to dodge until it fizzles out and the fight ends.
Now that this is done, bring Amalet back to the Collector’s HQ in Evergrind City and complete The Ancient Temple quest.
