At noon on December 13, 2023, video game publisher Ubisoft unveiled a new trailer for Ubisoft Montpeller’s upcoming game Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. This trailer highlights the various gameplay mechanics that players can expect in the new title.

The first feature highlighted in the trailer is how the game’s world and exploration will work. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown will feature an interconnected world that will encourage the player to revisit older areas with new powers similar to other popular games in the Metroidvania genre.

Said powers that the player will obtain over the course of the game will all center around the ability to manipulate time. Such as the ability to peek through time to see invisible secrets, creating an echo of yourself that you can teleport to mid-combat, or capture enemies in a time pocket dimension.

Combat in the game will allow players to slash and juggle enemies with a pair of twin swords or take them out from a distance with a powerful bow. Letting players handle combat encounters in their own preferred way.

All of your combat abilities will be slowly upgraded throughout the game as you uncover stat-increasing Wak Wak trees throughout the game’s world of Mount Qaf. You’ll also be able to find various equippable items to make your journey easier.

The world of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown will also feature many side quests and secrets that can be uncovered by resisting older areas. These side quests will give the player various rewards to increase their stats and abilities.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is expected to be released on January 18, 2024, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series S|X, and PC via Steam. Pre-orders are currently available on all platforms. Players who pre-order the game will receive a special costume known as The Warrior Within.
