Every sidequest and piece of heart from the original version of Ocarina of Time has made its way over to the recently released Ocarina of Time Remake, however many of them have been retuned and remixed just enough that they can throw even veteran players for a loop. Mamamu Yan’s sidequest is a perfect example of this as not only has the quest been moved to the center of Castle Town, but the solution also changed just slightly. If you’re having trouble finding Richard in the Ocarina of Time remake, then please consult the guide below.
Where to Find Richard in the Ocarina of Time Remake

If you visit Hyrule Castle Town again any time after having met Darunia in Goron City, you’ll find a woman panicking near the center of town. This is Mamamu Yan, and she is in distress as she cannot find someone named Richard anywhere and asks for your help.
However, Richard is not a person but rather a dog. There is a dog that runs around the Castle Town Market during the day, but he’s not the one we need to find. No, instead you must return to Castle Town at night. When visiting the area at night, you’ll see that roughly a dozen dogs running around, but which one is Richard?
Richard is a white dog, there are two identical white dog’s running around town and only Mamamu Yan can tell the difference between them. To bring a dog to her, you’ll need to walk up to it and press the A button to “Play” with it. After playing with a dog, it will begin to follow you around until you play with a different dog or speak to Mamamu Yan.

Bring a white dog to Mamamu Yan and she’ll tell you if it’s Richard or not. For me, Richard was near the alley but you have a 50/50 shot of getting it right either way if you bring her a white dog and there’s no penalty for bringing her the wrong one. After bringing Richard to her, Mamamu Yan will reward you with a piece of heart.
