While No Sleep for Kaname Date focuses more on its Escape Room puzzle sequences than the Somnium puzzles, which the series is known for, the game does still include a few Somnium dives where the player will get to play as Aiba and solve puzzles similar to those in the first two games. While solving these puzzles isn’t too hard with proper trial and error, solving them with at least one second of time remaining in order to unlock bonus content can be much harder. If you are struggling with these puzzles at all, here is a guide on how to complete every Somnium in No Sleep for Kaname Date with time to spare!
No Sleep for Kaname Date – All Somniums Guide
Starting with the game’s second chapter, the player will be thrown into a single Somnium section per chapter. Getting to the end of a Somnium within the time limit will often require the player to think about and use their Timies correctly to minimize the damage to your timer. While this guide will attempt to give you spoiler-free instructions in a step-by-step manner, the third Somnium in particular has some item interactions which may spoil you if you scroll do far into this guide.
NOTE: It is highly recommended that you follow the steps in these guides exactly as even moving in a Somnium will take up time and potentially make you fail to clear them in time. These guides are also solely for clearing the Somniums in time, if you are looking for the Hidden Eye collectibles we have a separate guide for them.
Decadent Kneel Somnium Guide
This first Somnium is very much a tutorial for all of them mechanics, just in case you’ve starting the series with No Sleep for Kaname Date. While there isn’t much to this Somnium, if you want to clear it in time you will have to properly juggle which Timies you’re using.
When entering the Somnium, the only thing available to interact with at first will be the Script behind Aiba. Click on it to get started. The script will give you two options for how to interact with it. Make sure to Read It to gain a -20 Timie
Reading the script will cause a Gun to appear on the floor. Picking up the item will cost 0 seconds of time. Next, enter the Giant Monitor that has just turned on and watch as Aiba gets past Mental Block #1
You’ll then be transported to a street. From here on, the typical Somnium time limit will begin to apply. There are several objects you can interact with on the street, which will lead to funny dialogue and -12 second penalties, but to progress, simply interact with the Mystery Person in the chair. This will take 16 seconds off your timer.

Proceed forward through the Giant Monitor, and you will be transported to a game show set in an amusement park that should look familiar to fans of the first Somnium Files game. For this step, you will need to select one of four objects to throw at the spinning wheel.
These next few steps are the most important in the Somnium. First, make sure you pick up the Spring Onion and use your -20 Timie before having Aiba yell “The King has Donkey Ears!”. With the timie used, this action will take 28 seconds but won’t progress you. It will, however, gain you a =1 Timie that you will NEED to use later in the Somnium.
After gaining that timie, do not use it as you select the Paper Airplane and choose to shout “I’m so sorry!!” As you throw it. This will gain you a ½ Timie and progress you past Mental Lock #2.
Once again, you will be transported to a street with several objects you can interact with, but ignore them for now and just approach the Mystery Person sitting in the chair once again to progress through the Somnium.
After some exposition about what you’ll need to do next, enter the nearby Monitor F and watch as Aiba is transported to a Wipeout-esque game show stage.
Here you will be asked a series of trivia questions in order to progress; the answers to which are:
| QUESTION | ANSWER |
| “What burns hotter, a match or a cigarette?” | Cigarette |
| “Which of these dice is more commonly used?” | -Die B (the two side on the left) |
| “What substance can be added to lemonade to make it bubble?” | Baking Soda |
| “1+1 = ?” | 1 |

Getting past these quizzes will break you through Mental Block #3, and you’ll yet again be able to chase the Mystery Person down the street. Interact with them once again and enter Door-Shaped Monitor G to proceed.
When inside, tilt the Whiskey bottle on the counter to progress. This will take a lot of time, so make sure to use your ½ Timie to soften the blow. This will immediately break Mental Lock #4 and send you running down the street one final time.

Walk up to the Mystery Person one final time. Now make sure to use at =1 Second Timie you gained earlier on this choice so you can turn what would take up 300 seconds into something that takes literally no time at all.
With the timie used, you must say “The future is non-existent” to end this Somnium dive. With the time of the final decision reduced to a single second, you should have plenty of time to spare as you leave.
Destructive Knowledge Somnium Guide
This Somnium is all about interacting with various monitors and folders in order to learn keywords which you need to progress. The issue is, typing these keywords almost always takes an entire minute off of your timer. So the true puzzle of this Somnium involves purposely making wrong choices at certain points in order to gain Timies, which will soften the blow of those choices.
Once the Somnium begins, walk forward down the street and Double Click the “R” Folder in front of you. When prompted, use the Needle Paper Cup. This will gain you an X2 Timie and causes a second R folder to appear behind you.
Go to this second “R” folder behind you, Pat the head of the rabbit to rid yourself of that X2 Timie with minimal damage and gain a -10 Timie. Then use the -10 Timie as you have Aiba Hug the rabbit. This will get you a -8 Timie as well as cause a third “R” Folder to appear.

Now click on this third “R” Folder and use the -8 Timie and make Aiba Sit and Spin in the rainbow chair. This will gain you a -2 Timie and get you the keyword you need to progress.
Now, interact with the Conversion Window, use your -2 Timie and have Aiba type Rabbit. This is the wrong answer, but it will gain you a 1/4 Timie that you will need later. Now, have Aiba type Reboot (do NOT use your timie) to both progress and gain a 1/2 Timie.
After a cutscene where you make it past Mental Lock #1, you’ll be transported to a room with several monitors. While all of them have cool lore and cutscenes, you only need to interact with “Birthday” PC. Click on it and choose Escape (do not use a Timie yet). This will gain you a =64 Timie.
With the Escape keyword learned, walk toward and interact with the Conversion Window, use your ½ Timie, and have Aiba type “Escape”. This will both progress you past Mental Lock #2 and add a -16 Timie to your inventory
After a cutscene, you will be transported to a replica of the Boss’ office and will once again have to interact with the correct monitor to learn the right keyword. First, Interact with Camera Feed PC, use your -16 Timie, and select Night. This is the wrong answer but it will gain you a 1/8 Timie that you’ll need to use later.

Now, it’s time to get the correct keyword. Once again click on the Camera Feed PC, now use your 1/4 Timie, and select Null. This will gain you a new 1/4 Timie. With the proper keyword learned, Interact with the Conversion Window, use your 1/4 Timie, and have Aiba type Null. This will progress you past Mental Lock #3 and break you out of the room as well as gain you =8 Timie.
After a cutscene, you will be transported to the amusement park. This area is quite large compared to the others, so make sure you don’t spend too much time walking around. In order to get past this Mental Lock, begin by walking over to Joke PC A., using your 1/8 Timie, and have Aiba type in Jam6.
Now walk over to where the giant Gun is and interact with Conversion Window A, choose to Jam the gun (do not use a Timie). You’ll take a hefty time loss but you’ll gain a 1/4 Timie. Next, make your way to the other side of the park and interact with Joke PC B, use your 1/4 Timie, and select Jail. You’ll earn both the keyword and a -120 Timie.

With the keyword Jail learned, walk over to the drone that’s firing lasers and interact with Conversion Window B, use the -120 Timie, have Aiba type Jail. This will break you past Mental Lock #4.
From here on, every second matters. Immediately run over to and interact with U PC C to learn the keyword Undo, then run to the Conversion Window, use your =8 Timie, and have Aiba type Undo.
For the final choice, quickly select “You Have Friends,” and you will be able to escape the Somnium with about thirty seconds to spare.
Distortional Knighthood Somnium Guide
Unlike the previous Somnium, which was all about repeatedly getting new Timies in order to soften the blow of many choices along the way, the big puzzle of the Distorional Knighthood Somnium is holding on to two Timies you gain near the beginning of the Somnium in order to completely negate the final few choices which ordinarily take hundreds of seconds to make.
Upon entering the Somnium, the player will find themselves inside of a subway car. Begin the puzzle by interacting with the Seat on your left and choose to Hold On to the Strap. This will gain you a =2 Timie, Make sure you do NOT use this until the very end of the Somnium.

Next, interact with the Smartphone floating to your right and choose to Wait as it rings. You will earn a 1/2 Timie from this as well as get the ability to Open the Train Door. Doing so will break you through Mental Lock #1.
Now that you’re in the subway station itself, interact with the Pillar near the tracks and choose to Tackle it. This is the wrong choice, but it will gain you a =5 Timie that you will need to use later.
Now, interact with the Pillar again and use your ½ Timie, Now, choose to Embrace it for progress, and you gain another 1/2 Timie. For your next action, turn around and click on the Vital Sign Monitor, use your 1/2 Timie, and choose the Place Ear option. This will gain you another 1/2 Timie.

With the Pillar and Vital Sign Monitor taken care of, you can now interact with the Pod by the stairs. After a short cutscene, the lights in the subway will turn off as Mental Block #2 breaks.
There will now be only one item in the room to interact with, walk over to the Egg Lantern and use your 1/2 Timie. Click the option that says “Pick One and Examine” to gain a 1/3 Timie, and the ability to open the Iron Fence to proceed.
Now that you’re on the subway tracks, walk all the way down to the other end and interact with the Mask inside of the tunnel. Use your 1/3 Timie and have Aiba Thank the mask. This will earn you a 1/5 Timie.
Next, walk on over to the wall to your right and interact with the Electronic Parts. Use the ⅕ Timie you just got and Kabedon it. This will gain you another 1/5 Timie and make you strong enough to beat Akemi and progress past Mental Lock #3.

Begin the next step by talking to Sakura, after a short cutscene where many objects appear. Walk over to an interact with Goggles by the stairs, use your ⅕ Timie as you Praise them, and earn a 1/7 Timie.
Once the lights go out again, it’ll finally be time to use those Timies you’ve been holding on to. Walk on over and interact with the Pumpkin Lantern, use your =2 Timie, and have Aiba yell out “You’re not Sakura!”, to enrage Akemi and gain yourself a 1/7 Timie.
Now click on the Pumpkin Lantern again and this time, use the =5 Timie, as you have Aiba Strike a Poke to gain the lantern’s power. You’ll gain a 1/11 Timie for doing this as well.
With over 100 seconds to spare, it’s time for the final action. Run on over to the train tracks and interact with the unconscious Sakura. All of the choices here are correct, but they each take up over 900 seconds of time. Use your 1/11 Timie to reduce that to a manageable 88 seconds and watch your victory cutscene.
