New Persona 3 Reload Trailer Introduces its Villains

With the Tokyo Game Show fast approaching, many Japanese companies have been preparing for the showcase by releasing new trailers for upcoming releases. One of those companies is the beloved JRPG developer Atlus who has just released a new trailer for their remake of Persona 3: Persona 3 Reload.

The newest trailer for this remake of the cult classic PlayStation 2 JRPG focuses on the game’s antagonists: the doomsday cult Strega. Throughout the trailer, we see various scenes of Strega’s role in the game and their interactions with the main cast.

Strega is composed of three main members. Takaya Sakaki, a long-haired man with a revolver leads the group, Jin Shirato a glasses-wearing young man who wields grenades, And Chidori Yoshino, a red-haired woman who wields an axe. All three of these antagonists are Persona users who will repeatedly get in the main party’s way.

Aside from info on Strega, the trailer also gives players a look at some of the game’s various side activities. Such as the returning social link with Igor’s assistant Elizabeth and a new scene where the main party all get together and have a pancake party in their dorm.

Finally, the trailer gives us even more glimpses of the game’s various new combat features and QoL changes. Such as a new team attack between the party members Akihiko and Shinjiro to attack all enemies currently on the field.

The most notable QoL combat change present in this trailer is that if the player attacks enemies that are a significantly lower level than them, the battle will end instantly and the player will receive all EXP and items they would have received if they went through the whole battle. This feature was first seen in 2016’s Persona 5.

Persona 3 Reload releases for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam on February 2, 2024. Pre-orders are currently available on all platforms. Players who pre-order the game will receive the limited Persona 4 Golden BGM Set DLC.
