One of the best ways to get stronger and gain money in Metaphor ReFantazio is to tackle bounty requests. After accepting these in town, the area the bounty is in will appear on your world map. Most of these bounties are difficult optional boss encounters when you get them, such as the Fatolich bounty which unlocks before you explore the game’s third major dungeon. This difficult encounter can easily wipe out your entire party in a single turn if you aren’t careful. If you’re having trouble with this encounter, here is a guide on how to defeat the Fatolich bounty in Metaphor: ReFantazio.

How to Defeat Fatolich in Metaphor: ReFantazio

For the first turn of the fight, do not bother casting any spells on the Fatolich, it would be a waste of MP as once his turn begins he will summon a chimera that will fully heal his health. That action by the Chimera in the first turn makes it very clear that it must be defeated before focusing on the Fatolich.

It is recommended that you bring either a cleric with Hamaon or inherit that skill from another Archetype, as the Fatolich is weak to light magic. Don’t expect to be taking advantage of those weaknesses too much though, as during this boss battle targeting weaknesses will not give you extra Press Turns.

With two strong enemies that have a wide variety of spells, you’ll need to play defensively for a good amount of this fight. If you have a Knight and Magic Seeker in your party, you’ll be able to use two of your press turns to cast the Magic Guard skill, which makes each party member immune to exactly one magic attack.

The Fatolich charges up a skill for one turn before using a powerful single target skill the next, while the Chimera always uses AoE magic spells. Time your magic guards so that the lich wastes his turn attacking one immune person.

After that, have the party member who got hit defend the next turn so that the chimera wastes his. This will keep you well-guarded against both foes, but it takes a lot of MP. So use your period of invincibility to deal as much damage as you can.

The Chimera beside the Fatolich is weak to wind magic, so target it via the Cyclo spell on your Magic Seeker then split your focus between the Fatolich and Chimera for the first phase of the battle, the Chimera has less health so it should be defeated first.

For another good attack method, you may also bring along a Gunner archetype. The Gunner’s Hex Shot skill not only does great damage, but it has the chance of inflicting the Hex status effect, which the Chimera isn’t immune to.

Once the chimera has been defeated, Fatolich will gain a second press turn and attempt to inflict your whole party with the hex status effect. After that though, he won’t have any extra tricks up his sleeve. Go all out on attacking and take down this foe.

After defeating the Fatolich and Chimera, you’ll receive a Hanged Man White Mask as a battle drop and a hefty cash reward once you turn in the bounty request itself.
