I’ve encountered many controllers of varying quality. Some prioritize appearance over function, while others may not look impressive but perform exceptionally well. Then, there are cases like Machenike’s G5 Pro V2, which combines stunning aesthetics with fantastic precision.
What’s in the box:
- G5 Pro V2 Controller
- 4 Extra Joysticks
- USB-A to USB-C Charging Cable
- Docking Station
- 2.4g Wireless Dongle
- Manual
- Sticker Sheet
The Gold and Black Attack
My first impression of this controller was its striking visual presentation. Its black and gold coloring gave it a bold, elegant look. I wondered how such a great-looking controller would perform. Before gaming, I took time to familiarize myself with it, admiring its great LED light display, giving it a colorful TRON-like aesthetic.

Regarding technical functionality, the G5 Pro V2 features two Hall Effect analog joysticks. They are responsive, but you can replace them with other Machenike joysticks for versatility.
The controller features optical microswitches for its buttons. This technology uses light to activate the input, making the buttons respond faster than mechanical buttons.
The buttons are in the following order:
- ABXY Xbox Style Buttons
- Home Button
- “+” Select Button
- “-“ Button
- Function Button
- D-Pad
- LT and RT Trigger Buttons
- LB and RB Bumper Buttons
- Bluetooth Connection Button
- M1 and M2 Programable Shoulder Buttons
- M3 and M4 Programable Back Buttons
The KeyLinker mobile app lets you connect and personalize your mapping and macro options. It also lets you update the firmware, adjust the LED light colors, and modify the joystick and trigger settings.
The G5 Pro V2 Premium Edition features a dock that charges and syncs with the controller’s LED, creating an attractive and colorful display. Although this doesn’t enhance charging speed, it provides a visually appealing light show.

I used this controller with various games. Of course, the mechanical D-pad was excellent for side-scrolling games. The G5 Pro V2 felt very responsive and fun for Ghost N’ Goblins.

The analog triggers performed well with racing games, and the brake and gas controls were smooth and easy to use. Although it may not offer the same degree of control as a steering wheel and pedalboard, I recommend this controller for arcade-style racers.

The G5 Pro V2 excels at extreme FPS games. Games like Doom Eternal were a blast to play with this controller. Call of Duty fans will probably enjoy this device’s responsiveness and tactile feel.
Connectivity
The Machenike G5 Pro V2 connects to the following devices:
- Windows 10/11 PC
- Nintendo Switch
- iOS
- Android
- Steam Deck via Bluetooth
Drawbacks
I love a controller with a charging dock because it’s an excellent way to display it next to my Steam Deck or Nintendo Switch. The only issue I encountered was the dock’s design, which made connecting the controller challenging. Occasionally, the controller shifts forward, causing the connection to be lost. I positioned it correctly to maintain the connection and ensure the dock charged it.
I also wish a joystick removal tool had been included in the box. While this is not a deal breaker, having it would have been nice.
Regarding connectivity, the 2.4g dongle didn’t work with the Steam Deck. However, it’s not a major issue since I connected the controller via Bluetooth. Still, I would have preferred this method since 2.4g offers a better connection with higher data rates and lower latency, thus allowing the controller’s technology to perform at its best.
Conclusion
The Machenike G5 Pro V2 proves you can have a technical controller with great looks and outstanding quality features like optical micro switches, swappable Hall effect joysticks, great triggers, and bumpers. It is the total package. Its precise controls would make it an excellent e-sports controller.
