Puzzle Shogi Solutions in Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii
One detail even mega fans of the Like a Dragon franchise may not notice is that ever since Yakuza 6’s release in 2016, RGG Studio stopped making new Shogi puzzles and has instead been reusing older ones. Pirates in Hawaii breaks this trend by introducing new puzzles for the first time in over a decade, here is a step-by-step guide for these new puzzles!
Puzzle 1
For the first puzzle, you’ll want to grab the piece in the middle of the puzzle and move it up a single space. Do NOT promote it and you’ll instantly checkmate your opponent.

Puzzle 2
The second puzzle is actually easier than the first one. Simply take the piece from your hand and place it directly next to the bottom two pieces in the current formation. Once the piece is placed, you’ll win the puzzle.

Puzzle 3
Puzzle number 3 is another simple one. Grab the piece in the bottom left of the current formation on the board and move it up a single space. Promote it and you’ll achieve a checkmate.

Puzzle 4
For the fourth puzzle, you’ll again need to make only a single move. Take the vagrant piece from your hand and place it in the location pictured below. Once placed, you’ll achieve a checkmate.

Puzzle 5
On the fifth puzzle, grab the piece on the far left of the board and move it up one space diagonally right and you’ll instantly achieve a checkmate.

Puzzle 6
Puzzle 6 is another one which requires you to place a piece from your hand onto the board. This is also the first puzzle which will require you to make multiple moves. For the first step, grab the bottom left piece, move it up a single space, and promote it.

For your second move, place the piece currently in your hand in the top left of the current board formation in order to trap and checkmate your opponent.

Puzzle 7
During the seventh puzzle will once again be placing a stray piece from your hand onto the board. Place the piece in the image pictured below for your first move.

For your second move grab the piece in the top right of the current formation and place It below the two piece which are currently vertical from each other. Promote it and you’ll solve the puzzle.

Puzzle 8
Puzzle 8 ups the ante by having two pieces in your hand which you must place on the board. For your first move, place the piece on the right of your hand to the left of the top-right piece on the board.

Then as a second move, place the remaining piece in your hand in the empty slot at the top of the current board formation.

Puzzle 9
The ninth puzzle is a tricky one, but begin your first turn by taking the piece on the right of your hand and placing it in the location on the board pictured below.

Then take the remaining piece in your hand and place it at this location on the board to achieve an instant checkmate.

Puzzle 10
For the final puzzle, you won’t need to place any piece from your hand onto the board. Begin your turn by taking the piece in the bottom left of the current formation and moving it to the top right of the formation. Promote the piece when prompted.

Now grab the piece two spaces down from the one you just moved and move it up diagonally and a space to the left. Once placed, you’ll finally get your final checkmate of Puzzle Shogi!
