The extremely popular and well regarded fan translation group Hilltop has announced that they are working on a new fantranslation in the year 2024 and would be unveiling the trailer on January 16, 2024 at 4PM.
With the announcement that the game would be a classic previously untranslated PlayStation 2 JRPG, hundreds of gamers tuned in to the video’s premiere, all speculating about what the title could possibly have beeb.
As the trailer began, gamers were greeted with footage of the video game Rowdy Princess in English for the first time in history. Many expressed confusion as this game is obscure even by PS2 JRPG standards, but some hard-core fans were able to recognize the title immediately.
For those unaware, Rowdy Princess was a JRPG developed by Alfa System and MARS Corp about a team of “Justice Allies” led by Princess Rouge who travel around the kingdom of Silver Bell to resolve any incident they come across.
Several well known names in the Japanese game industry such as Shoji Matsuda (whose previous works include Linda Cubed, Tengai Makyō II: Manjimaru, and beloved Oreshika) were involved in the development of this title, making it somewhat of a white whale for PS2 JRPG enthusiasts.
According to Hiltop’s Twitter account, the fan translation will be helmed by veteran translator Cargodin, who has been a fan of the game for years. In addition to them, OldGameBox (who had previously worked on a fan translation of Boku no Natsuyasumi 2) will be working on graphic and video editing.
Hiltop’s fan translation of Rowdy Princess will be worked on throughout the year 2024. The translation team is expected to give monthly updates to users via their Patreon page.
