Fans of the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise have had a confusing 24 hours as a new game seemingly launched with no prior announcement on Roblox: Five Nights at Freddy’s Survival Crew. However, in the span of a few hours, the game vanished.
In the few hours that fans were able to access and play the game, they would be greeted with gameplay very similar to the popular survival horror game Dead by Daylight, but with popular Five Nights at Freddy’s animatronics as the killers.
Keen gamers also immediately took note of the game’s shop and microtransactions. These microtransactions would allow players to customize their animatronic.
One microtransaction in particular that has puzzled the internet is the inclusion of a battle pass system similar to Fortnite, aptly called the Freddy Pass in this title.
Dissatisfied Five Nights at Freddy’s fans immediately complained about the game on social media platforms like Twitter, however, they wouldn’t be able to complain long as only a few hours later the game would vanish from the Roblox platform.
In a Reddit post about the game Scott Cawthon, creator of the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise, commented that while this was an official game he is working. However, it was not meant to launch in this state.
According to Scott, there was a misunderstanding in development where he had approved a cosmetic skin for use in the game, and this approval was misinterpreted by an employee as a go-ahead to launch the game.
Scott would go on to clarify in his post that he will continue to work on Five Nights at Freddy’s Survival Crew in the oncoming months and that the game is slated for a 2024 release date.
While some fans are anticipating the release of Survival Crew, others are disappointed that the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise is collaborating with Roblox as opposed to doing a long-desired Dead by Daylight collaboration.
