One of Fire Emblem’s biggest traditions it the “Cain and Abel” unit archetype. Two knights, a green one and a red one, who join the party relatively early on and often have a rivalry with each other. Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave has a unique twist on this trope as this game’s equivalent to Cain and Abel, Nathan and Creek, are actually recurring antagonists for a majority of the game. That doesn’t mean they can’t be recruited though, as Fortune’s Weave also loves giving the player as many units as possible. How to Recruit Creek in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave
Creek’s recruitment requirement is very unique as he is the only character in the game who requires you to perform specific tasks in multiple parts of the game to recruit him. His recruitment process actually begins in Part 1 but is invisible to the player at the time.
During Chapter 9 of Leda and Dietrich’s routes, Creek can be found in Dagison with a side quest marker over his head. Speak to him and you’ll begin the quest “My Late Sister’s Accessory”. This quest is a very simple one which simply asks the player to travel to a location marked on the map to fight some bandits, then return to Creek with the item they dropped.
This quest will seem to have no reward outside of Renown at first due to Creek not being recruitable during Part 1 of the game, but this will pay off much later during Part 2.
More specifically, during the chapter “Part 2: War Chapter 2”. During this stage, Creek will your enemy fighting for the opposing army. If you have completed this side quest as your current Lord, defeating Creek will have him join your army after the stage.
Now that we have Creek in our party, we can work on recruiting his partner.
How to Recruit Nathan in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave
Once you have recruited Creek, make sure he is in your party during the next chapter’s stage “Part 2: War Chapter 3”, as he is a required step for recruiting his partner Nathan.
Midway through this stage, Nathan will appear from the northern side of the map and begin charging toward your party with the intention of killing them all to defend Arago. Recruiting Nathan is much simpler than you would think, as all you need to do if defeat him with Creek.
Creek MUST land the final blow on Nathan for the red knight to survive. All other characters will kill Nathan if they are the one to defeat him. If someone else beats Nathan, you must use Fortuna’s Blessing to rewind and make sure Creek is the one to do it this time.
After Creek beats Nathan, he will officially join your party once the stage ends. While Nathan and Creek will likely be surpassed in power by your main party by the time they join, it’s always nice to recruit as many people as you possibly can during a single playthrough.
