The Heroic Games in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave are a bloodbath where loyalty can be bought as you convince characters to leave their lifelong clans in order to join up with your party and soar to victory. Amongst the game’s recruitable units is the gentle giant Goliath. This man can be convinced to fight alongside you instead of his brother Bertrand, but his loyalty isn’t bought easily as in order to recruit him you’ll need to gather one of the rarest materials in the game. How to Recruit Goliath in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave
Every unit’s recruitment requirements varies depending on your route in order to make sure you don’t rely on the same party for all characters. Some protagonists can get Goliath relatively early while others will need to wait quite a while to get him. Here are his recruitment requirements across all four routes.

Raising Goliath’s Support level high enough to recruit him won’t give you any difficulty. Just takes him to feasts, go to the theater with him, and gift him Strategy Mauscripts and Volcano Ghosh to make him see you as one of your best friends. No, the real obstacle between you and recruiting him is what he asks for: 3 pieces of Giant’s Meat.
As the name implied, Giant’s Meat is an enemy drop that can only be obtained from Giants. Gathering this material is a bit of a double edged sword. Because on the one hand, Giants will always drop this material (Unless you’re fighting them in Bertrand Paralogue, where they do not drop anything). On the other hand though, Giants are by far the rarest enemy type in Fortune’s Weave and even finding one of them to fight can be difficult.
The only place where Giants that you can fight spawn is via random skirmishes in Pasithea, the region of the continent in the south west. The issue however, is that these spawns are completely random so you’ll need to get lucky. At the moment I have also been unable to find any dungeons which consistently spawn dungeons similar to how other rare enemies like Sandworms have a single grinding spot that the player can take advantage of.
If waiting around for random skirmishes isn’t to your liking (Or if you’re playing Cai’s Route, where you can’t go to Pasithea), there is another relatively consistent way of gaining Giant’s Meat, but it will take quite a few turns to do. Near Aurora’s Temple in the south of the map there is a search spot called the “Secret Altar”
When searching here, there is a chance that you will get a rare material called “Luxury Meat Crate”. If you go into your inventory and open this item, you have a chance of either getting Giant’s Meat or Sandworm Meat. It’s a bit of a gamble, and it took me about 15 turns to get 3 pieces of Giant’s Meat myself, but it’s the only semi-consistent method in the game for getting this material.
Once you’ve gotten the Giant’s Meat, make your way back to Goliath and he’ll be more than glad to leave his brother’s team to join up with yours. Goliath is one of the best tank units in the game, no debate. He is also the only character whose personal skill is entirely a debuff as it prevents him from being a cavalry unit. Not that it matters, as Goliath is more than happy with his role of being a guy who charges into the frontline and never dies.
