The Heroic Games in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave is filled with all types of characters. While the characters who get the most focus throughout the game are those who have personal or plot-relevant reasons for competing, there are just as many people competing for reasons as simple as money or personal pride. Characters like these will often join the player’s party as long as they’re paid enough money. One of these characters is Io, if you’re curious about what his asking price is then please feel free to consult this guide on how to recruit him in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave
How to Recruit Io in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave

Every unit’s recruitment requirements varies depending on your route in order to make sure you don’t rely on the same party for all characters. Some protagonists can get Io relatively early while others will need to wait quite a while to get him. Here are his recruitment requirements across all four routes.
| Route | Support Requirement | Renown Requirement | Special Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cai | 3 | 10 | Pay him 4,000 Gold |
| Leda | 1 | 6 | Pay him 1,500 Gold |
| Theodora | 3 | 10 | Pay him 4,000 Gold |
| Dietrich | 2 | 3 | Pay him 800 Gold |
As you can see, Leda and Dietrich will be able to recruit Io near the beginning of their routes while Cai and Theodora won’t be able to recruit him until the end, far after the point where they’ll have their main parties chosen. This is likely due to Io being a cavalry unit and the devs wanted to prevent players from recruiting too many similar units at once in each route.
Unlike most of the various mercenary-like characters in the game who ask for the same exact same amount of money across each of the game’s routes, Io’s price for joining your party actually varies from protagonist to protagonist. Cai and Theodora will need to pay him the highest amount at 4,000 Gold while Dietrich will only need to pay him 800 Gold for recruitment.
Regardless of the price, recruiting Io is well worth it if you’re in need of a good cavalry unit. Io’s personal skill gives him +3 Shield and +20 Avoid if he is the first to attack in combat, making him a perfect character to charge straight at an enemy for a preemptive attack.
