Some of the best units to recruit in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave are those who start the game allied with Bertrand, the White-Maned Demon. This group of characters are some of the most notable and quirky individuals in Dagison and perhaps none of them stand out more than Jester. This seemingly sadistic clown can always be found hanging around Goliath, who overshadows him both in size and in most people’s recruitment priorities. However, if you want this mad clown in your endgame party then please feel free to use this walkthrough detailing how to recruit Jester in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave
How to Recruit Jester in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave

Every unit’s recruitment requirements varies depending on your route in order to make sure you don’t rely on the same party for all characters. Some protagonists can get Jester relatively early while others will need to wait quite a while to get her. Here are his recruitment requirements across all four routes.
| Route | Support Requirement | Renown Requirement | Special Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cai | 3 | 10 | Clear Jester’s 3 Side Quests |
| Leda | 3 | 10 | Clear Jester’s 3 Side Quests |
| Theodora | 3 | 9 | Clear Jester’s 3 Side Quests |
| Dietrich | 3 | 6 | Clear Jester’s 3 Side Quests |
As you can see, every character will need to raise Jester’s Support level to 3 before they’ll be able to recruit him, but considering how high his Renown requirement is in most routes you’ll have plenty of time to reach it. If you want the Support grinding to go fast, gift him some Arrowhead Gems as they are his favorite gift.
The big barrier between you and recruiting Jester is his special requirement, as he won’t join your party unless you properly smell like a bloodbath. In order to please him, you’ll need to clear three different side quests for him which all involving hunting down groups of bandits.
The gimmick of these quests is that they escalate in difficulty. The first group of bandits will all be level 15, the second group will be level 20, and the final group will be level 25. This scaling difficulty might sound a bit neat at first, but considering how far into your playthrough you need to be to even initiate this quest none of these bandits should be giving you any trouble.
After clearing out the final group of bandits, Jester will not only be satisfied, but frightened of you. Now that he’s properly scared, he’ll join your party without any further fuss.
Jester’s Personal Skill is decent enough but very situational. After using Swap, he’ll gain +3 Defense until the next phase. This makes him pretty good as a frontline unit, but he’s still very much a glass cannon due to his optimal classes being like that.
