The Vandahl Trading Company is one of the most interesting factions in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave. As despite Talimun looking like he’s as important as the game’s main four playable lords, he is mostly relegated to being a side character in the game’s narrative. This also means that we can snatch up his employees and add them to our clan’s roster without remorse. Ursula, Talimun’s closest employee in the story, takes a bit longer to recruit than most units, but it’s well worth it as she is a very cool character. If you’re curious about how to unlock Ursula, here is a quick guide on how to recruit her in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave.

Every unit’s recruitment requirements varies depending on your route in order to make sure you don’t rely on the same party for all characters. However, in Ursula’s case her recruitment will happen at the same time in all routes as it’s related to an optional paralogue which spawns on a specific date.

RouteSupport RequirementRenown RequirementSpecial Requirement
Cai310Clear Talimun’s Paralogue + Pass her Negotiation
LedaN/AN/AN/A
Theodora39Clear Talimun’s Paralogue + Pass her Negotiation
Dietrich37Clear Talimun’s Paralogue + Pass her Negotiation

Similar to characters like Peppe, the barrier between you and recruiting Ursula is tied directly to completing an optional, time sensitive, paralogue. Sadly you will be unable to recruit Ursula in Leda’s route as Talimun’s paralogue does not appear during her story.

Talimun’s paralogue will first spawn on 9/17 in Cai’s Route, Dietrich’s Route, and Theodora’s Route. This paralogue can be accepted at any time before 10/12 by speaking to Talimun in Dagison. Talimun will tell you about how some of his deliveries seem to have vanished at Dragdon Pass and he needs your help to check on it.

Go to the location marked on your map and you’ll be brought into a very unique map where there will be three factions: Your party, a group of birds who are carrying Talimun’s stolen cargo, and some thieves trying to steal the cargo. Attacking the birds will cause them to drop the cargo on the ground for you to grab, but the thieves will also attempt to grab it and run away with it.

If the thieves reach the exit, which is where your party spawns, then it’s game over. For the first few turns of this map I would recommend focusing solely of fighting the thieves and making sure they don’t get away. They’re very fast so bring some cavalry units with you that can keep pace or block their movement entirely. If you’re really lucky, the thieves might also get boxed in by the birds and you won’t even need to deal with them running away.

Once you’ve either defeated all of the enemies or picked up all of the cargo, the map will end and you’ll have completed Talimun’s paralogue. Assuming that you’ve also taken the time to raise your support level with Ursula, all you’ll have to do now is pass her negotiation and she’ll join your party.

Despite the game ranking the difficulty of this negotiation as medium, it’s actually very easy as you’ll essentially be saying yes ma’am to all of Ursula’s questions.

QuestionAnswer
In the case of an emergency at the company, I may have to withdraw from your side. Is that alright?Agree
And if I leave, neither I nor Vandahl Trading Company can be responsible for misfortunes accrued in my absence.Agree
However, I will be reporting to Talimun about you and my activities by your side. Is that alright?Agree

After the negotiation, Ursula will finally join your party. Her unique skill is one very fitting of a member of the Vandahl Trading Company, as she can access the item storage (which is tied to your lord) from up to two spaces away. Not the most useful skill in the world in a game where weapon durability is a non-issue but nice nonetheless
